it happened last winter, i think before christmas.
i have some friends who were close friends of hers, its a fucked up thing. to go on tour and not come back. i went to a farewell party for china with my friend who was friends with her. she wanted someone to go with. i felt awful. it was full of people who were friends of hers, famous underground japanese musicians and just everyday friends, and i was there, id never met her, i felt so wierd, like i shouldnt be there. i think i was the only none japanese there. still it was quite touching and i felt very sad. i think she was in relationship with seiichi yamamoto. i went to see him play with phew not so long after and he didnt perform. it must have really had a massive effect on him, as it would for anyone in his situation. Even though I tend to be biased towards liking Japanese bands, I've never liked them. To be fair, I've only listened to a couple random songs once. What's the essential CD to get?

"burning farm", of the proper albums. it's their first and the songs t & b
linked are from it. every song is a goddamn classic. the first sk record i ever got though was their self-titled release, which was a compilation of "burning farm" and "yama no attachan", which were both at the time unavailable in america. so i'm incredibly biased towards it, but with the recent reissues, it's not essential. |

Could someone please upload an album. I would be so grateful. I've only been able to find around 30 mp3s over the past 2 years.
Sorry if I sound lame. I just want to hear more of their stuff. |

I remeber seeing them live a couple years ago (China was still around), and they put on a pretty good show. They played some Ramones songs for their encore. Pretty Little Baka Guy is definetly my favorite album of theirs.

i saw it at dime...didn't download it though.
best song by female band ever?...sheesh...whatever. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/All-female_band i'm not declaring they Shonen Knife are terrible because they certainly aren't, but the liberal use of hyperbole and willy-nilly ass-kissing thing around here is so fucked. Every fucking thread is nothing but agreement that whoever/whatever is being discussed is "awesome" or "rules." That is, as long as the thing being discussed is known to be "cool." Things that have a rep for maybe not being so cool usually get instantly trashed in unison by the herd. Look, they can't all rule. You must all live for rep points...so you *smooch* *smooch* all the time. oh well, i guess chabib chose well when he selected this layout for the forum. ...he must've thought...i'll go with the one with the gay-ass rep points because then people will all try to get along with each other to get the rep points and they'll not need much moderating, if at all... well, that sounds fine, yeah, but when it contributes to a sychophantic culture and population of milquetoasts, i gotta say count me out. |

I'm a Shonen Kinfe addict for the second time in my life. And I love it!
Godamn.. Such an incredible group I'm kind of afraid of stepping past 1991 in their discography.. Will I be disappointed? |
