No. Pauly, I think you'd enjoy Doc at the Radar Station, if nothing else. |

Yeah I remember reading some of that before, it's awesome. Very childlike.

He dropped out of school before he was, like, 13. I think that explains everything.

I could never really dig Strictly Personal all that much, mainly because of the production, which is truly awful. I'm sure if you just reconstructed the track list from the demos on the Safe as Milk reissue and the Mirror Man sessions then you'd have a real stunner though. It does have some of his best songs on it though. Trust Us? AMAZING!

Yeah, it is probably the worst-produced album of all time. But reconstructing it (and adding in some of the bonus tracks from those sessions that you mentioned, as well), it really has all my favorite songs on it, like "Safe As Milk", "Kandy Korn", and "Trust Us". So good.

I find it very interesting how far back "Witch Doctor Life" dates. It took them 14 years to record it for "Ice Cream for Crow"...?!

I uploaded a RARE treat for you all:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/eocrw0 semi multi colored caucasian, DECALS era demo! that's right -- this song dates back 11 years before they recorded it on ICE CREAM FOR CROW. It was originally a LOT slower, with some slow marimba. the whole song sounds a LOT different. Hearing completely different musicians play it at a much slower tempo is really interesting. |

Re: surf rock, I think he is referring to the "single note on the same string" parts, but that's prevalent in many Beefheart songs (if not all).

The only thing wrong with Ice Cream for Crow is it doesn't have 'Peon" on it
