all the good bands on their active roster are past their prime. maybe pavement arent, but still, the only appealing aspects of their roster are big safe indie favorites.
i never really dug yo la tengo. i cant find anything to get excited about when i look at any of the newer bands theyve got. i checked out dead meadows cos they were playin near me and i couldnt stand them. |

I liked Yo La Tengo when they good in the 90s.
Cat Power leaves me cold. Liz Phair had a great album on the label, but that's been years and years. I like the early Pavement records, but they're over too. Can't even get much excited about SY going over there. I think it's a pretty sure bet SY will continue to produce good music but nothing nearly as exciting as when they were in their prime. It's over for matador, as far as I'm concerned. Or they need to really step it up somehow.

The last Yo La Tengo album I loved was really AND THEN NOTHING... from 2001. The ones after that have been so-so, but the DANELECTRO and NUCLEAR WAR EP's were good.
The new Malkmus is good. Not great. Better than the last two, but not as good as the first one. I actually love the new Cat Power though. |

Matador really needs to sign scissor shock... that's the only way to save them I'm afraid.

Dear Matador Lurker, I insist that yr record company give me yr marketing budgets. With my new bespoke 14-carat gold eagle statuette on my wrist, I may just FINALLY be interesting, attractive and charismatic enough (I'm ALREADY funny, you twats). I promise that once the check is cut, I will tell a few friends about Pavement. Sincerely, The Future Leader of MATADOR STREET TEAM: EAGLE, FloSlo |

If Matador really reads this board, I'd like them to post a picture of themselves.
