Does it actually use tape, or a microchip? How would they fit 9 tape loops in there? The only blank cassettes I have are plastic-welded or some crap like that. I can't even open them. So I have no experience making loops.

Nah I'm not really familiar with that stuff. I wish I were, it would be really useful. But I found this on the ad for the one I bought on eBay.
"The Buddha Machine is a small soundbox made in China which comes with an integrated speaker, a volume control, mini jack-out and a switch to choose between nine different loops which are stored on a small chip and can be directly played by this mini soundsystem." I thought I had read something about a chip, but all the talk of tape confused me. |

So what is the term for the box? I'm having trouble finding any info on google or wiki.

The quality is not what I hoped for, but it picks up really well on guitar pick-ups, so it doesn't have to plug into anything to go over an amp. Definitely over-priced, but it's pretty cool. I got the hot pink one, though.

Ya the color is growing on me. But now that I've been messing around with it a bit, this thing is pretty fucking rad. Adds nice ambience. Actually makes obnoxious noise effects sound much more pallatable.

Nope. Nothing to record with. I should get some kind of input thing though for recording. There are some videos of them on YouTube, though.

Lee uses a Mooger Fooger Ring Modulator and a Line 6 delay. Thurston uses an MXR Phase 90 phaser. Maybe that's what yr talking about?
