Reminds me - I bid for Thurston's shoes on Ebay. Didn't win them. He's the same size as me (in the foot dept. at least).

hooya. it's true there are many different editions. i have a portable one by penguin i think i bought in the middle east when i was desperatly fiending for american poetry. i say whatever works. if you find an old little copy with no publisher information buy it at once-- it's worth $$$ (the first edition was self-published-- the literary "myspace" of the time. i know someone who got one by accident like that). |

I have some edition, a rather old one in fact, pages falling out and the such. It's Leaves of Grass, and I very much enjoy it. I want to get a new one though, maybe a nice one, with less wear and tear, without the pencils markings some kid must've made, without the cup ring on the cover.

you know the other day, in a friend's house, i was reading one done by some famous photographer. i mean it's the poems & then "related" photos inspired by them i guess. i forget the name but you could google or find out. nice large volume, good typography, and if i recall well (i was a bit drunk, in my defense) a complete index of first verses & titles & names & what not.

I'm thinking about how the mix CD I'm making for my friend sucks hairy balls. I'm also thinking about how bored I am and that I wish I could have stayed at my friends.

Neat but pricey.
It would be interesting to see which pictures went with which poems though. |

i just read somewhere that weston didn't give a shit about whitman ha ha. there are docks & fields & things like that. the book is kind of a gem in the sense that it brings together 2 american masters. i think $50 is not bad at all-- some people would consider it a (i must hold my barf here) "collectible". *gag reflex* -- worth the price... checked in amazon but they don't have it.... |
