Most of the Wire tappers are worth a dabble. As Mr & Bowels says, can't go wrong with the Trojan boxsets. I have a fair few of this series: which are pretty indispensible if you're me. This is awesome. The bonkers compilations have a certain nostalgia value for me. If you like that sort of thing, you'll love any of them. If you don't - a) you're dead to me and b) they won't change your mind.

My all time favourite compilation is a British jazz record from the 40s called 'Homemade Jam vol 2'. No picture. If anyone sees volume 1 I will pay you for it. If you see vol 2, treat yourself, you're worth it.

Anyone mention the Tokyo Flashback series? Not consistently great, but turned me on to a few things I wouldn't have known about when I was a young 'un. Before the interbox and all that.

First two Nuggets (obv.)
This Is Boston, Not L.A. The Complete Peel Sessions (The Fall) 20 All-Time Greatest Hits! (James Brown) The Kink Kronikles Chronicles, Vol. 1 (CCR) Singles Going Steady I'm sure there's quite a few glaring omissions that aren't coming to mind now, but whatever. |

No New York
Nuggets (I only have the original album, I'd like to get the box set, the box set of non-American stuff, and the box set of later stuff) The Flying Nun label has a lot of good compilations, but the 25th anniversary box set is amazing.
