Haha. Yeah, I know. That bit is painful. I like the textures though. And the rest of the lyrics arent that bad. And still, it's the lead in to one of Sonic Youth's best albums, so I can cut it some slack.

"My Friend Goo" has always put me off.

I like the new song, now that I've heard it a few times. But it's really not at all what I expected. Good enough though. I'll keep listening and it'll grow on me like a malignant cyst.

I think this is pretty okay song. A bit too long but I like it. It's also great that there's a beat 'cause it makes Kim's vocals more focused.

Sounds too "generic" to my ears.
Sure, it features Kim's vocals and guitar (and I suspect it's enough for many people to be content with it), but I don't like the sounds/production, and reading how the track was put together I think it's no surprise it doesn't really strike me as a "kim's song" at all.
Still curious to see if she'll pursue a similar sound/mood in future tracks.

I secretly hope for an album similar to Santigold's first LP, i.e. filled with a variety of amazingly-produced multi genre semi-pop(?) songs. ahah.

Countre Le gave me naturally little bit wondering at first time, then I have loved it. It just opens ATL so great way, give a good impression what´s coming.

Well, it seems there are not coming any SY solo material in the near future. Thurston´s album is already moved into spiring 2017 and seems to be yet no information about Lee´s new solo (also that DVD is still unreleased). Anyway Matador seems to be interested Kim´s new stuff...

That's kind of sad, but I understand. I've been a devout little fanboy and purchased all the solo offerings as they've come out, attended concerts when I've been able to, and generally towed the line. But it's definitely nothing like the SY days.

I wonder if this is how the Beatles generation felt in the 1970s. Hearing "Band on the Run" on the radio and trying to be excited... like, wow this... kinda.. sounds like the Beatles... almost sort of. Yay! ?

I was always selective with solo work. To me, what I loved about SY was the combination of the players. I don't know. I just think that the formula created a perfect balance - they all tethered each other perfectly.

Agree. But they`ve made few solos that I think are as great as SY-albums. Also you just have to be selective with their solos, who has money to buy that huge catalog (also time to listen it if you want to listen also something else than Sy & related)?

And anyway I really hope somebody is releasing Lee´s new solo, what I heard in a gig, it can be the best solo record all the time!

gordon/olive/mori/(o'rourke) trio/quartet were great. free kitten's inherit was great. there are some other great kim solos out there.

i don't think the problem with the song is kim, i think it's the dude who did the music.

I'm kinda with him on the Kim thing. I wouldn't say I'm obsessed, but I'm pretty sure I'd marry her. Ok so maybe there's some minor obsessive thinking going on on my part, but Jesus, she is pretty fucking awesome. Whatever strange tempted Thurston to violate their union, it better have been that Succubus from American Gods who eats people with her vag. That's the only excuse I can think of that would make his betrayal understandable, if not justified.

Still not totally sold on this song though. There's something distinctly unKimly about it. It feels like she's just supplied the vocals to someone else's track. Which is fine, I guess. But it's odd that the first "Kim Gordon" Kim Gordon song sounds so much like someone else's ideas.
