This movie looks really cool just by the way it's shot with that weird animation style. Philip K. Dick is a great writer, I loved his other book The Man in the High Castle which is this bizarre book that talks about america being split up in two by germany and japan after they both had won world war 2.
The plot for A Scanner Sarkly looks really good too: a bleak mixture of science fiction and police procedural, in which an undercover narcotics detective ingests massive amounts of a dangerous drug in order to maintain his cover.

Yeah, this is really an amazing (and amazingly depressing) book! The alternate reality PKD creates here is pretty realistic.. and the alt. reality in the alt. reality is what really makes it an incredible amazing story. The book is about an alt. reality in which the Axis won WW2, and in this reality, some author wrote an alt. reality in which the Allies won WW2. |

I saw the movie. It was good. I enjoyed seeing the cartoon version of "I Wanna Ride Her."

Everything is Rather Ripped's fault. Because that album exists, we don't have to take responsibility for our actions anymore.

Keanu Reeves is in it? Pass.
I also agree with the people who think the animation is going to ruin the movie. |

This is actually the best performance I have ever seen Keanu Reeves give....maybe because he was animated and I couldn't tell that his facial expression sucked so much?

Possibly. He's really annoying, as we all know (his voice is unchanged). I'm sure I'll see the movie anyway.

Daycare, you would relate to a schizophrenic, drug addicted lamb.

Keanu Reeves is harped on far too much. I'll be the first to admit that I make fun of him all the time, but he isn't actually that bad. He plays a certain type of character, and as repetitive as it is, it usually works. But I've seen him in roles that were quite different, so it isn't for lack of potential.

The animation was FDANTASTIC. there is no other way to do what they did, especially with the suits. The movie was amazing, and the animation is so highly detailed. They film everything in digital and process the image through a filter that gives that animation style. it is fucking wonderful and adds so much to the mood of the movie. if it had been done in reguilar live action it would have detracted too much. They did a genius job
Phillip K Dick is the man, and I love his books, and compared to total recall (which I liked) and some others I ahve seen, it is fantastic. I rank it right up there with Blade Runner.

It was better than Minority Report. I liked that movie a lot but it became so bogged down and slow i the second to last reel. it detracted from ot not a perfect movie. scanner darkly was GREAT,a dn FUNNY and the cast was wonderful and it is amazing how the animation effect can show every twitch and emotion and angle of the face. robert downey was crazy and hilarious
