I've heard that they are staying out of Canada as a protest to Neil Young's latest release. As Thurston says "Neil's being way to harsh on the President. Why doesn't he just move back to Canada, eh??"

Sonic Youth have announced a three week headlining tour of the USA which will get started up at CBGB's June 13." Maybe they announce US first and other counties later.

There will be a second leg of the tour, but yeah I'd be pissed if they weren't near me for this go around. Hop in the car and take off folks! Make a weekend out of it! Also, I'm guessing The Lips won't be playing with them on this leg???
