placebo fucking suck.
worst lyrics/vocals ever. actually, the bassist and drummer are terrible too. saved from being one of the worst bands ever by having the occassionally cool guitar TONE.. |

I used to like them when I was a teenager. their first album was not so bad, good guitar tunes, but the next albums sound boring now. I don't see the connection with SY, when Molko said he was playing a sort of SY music, but faster than the band. This guy must be dumb, he has never listened to Sy I think.

Molko sings like he has a crayon stuck up his nose, a la Ralph Wiggum. As for Placebo's music, I can only offer a hearty meh.

well, actually, molko makes up a lot of chords and plays in many different guitar styles.. his guitar playing is actually pretty unique, lots of interesting tones like i said.. and i might be wrong but he probably uses alternate tunings..
that's the only thing he really has in common with sy though. |

I did like them once apon a time, had all their albums, Black Market Music was the only good one. I even went to see them in 2001, after that i didn't like them.

i really really really like the song "brick shithouse". which is sad because it has that stupid rap guy and industrial shit going "IT'S NI THE SHIT BRICKHOUSE" which is terrible.
but the high pitched ringing glam rock guitars? great. and molko manages a good line: "when you cum you never make a single sound; i'll be watching when he's around." which actually is a lame line, but the way he sings it is pretty damn cool. "you don't care about us." also has some great guitars. too bad the lyrics talk about "This mental masturbation." ridiculous. 36 degrees has that awesome.. is that a keyboard? or is that just an awesome guitar tone? that shit's great. come home also is cool but a bit too long. my friends all loved this band at some point and i was exposed to a majority of their music.. my advice to them is to stop having molko sing, get a new singer, just have him play guitar, and they should focus on really fast glammy songs. then, they'd be pretty damn good. |

I'm agree with you about 36 degrees, You don't care... and Brick...
And I can't stand Molko's voice too. I found it great when I was a young asshole, but now it's very unpleasant to ear it. |

Placebo's guitar tuning is:
F, Asharp, Dsharp, Gsharp, C, C (Fsharp somtimes) (I don't know how to do a sharp sign on mac) I love his voice, i think it's great, but i do know people who don't like them because of his voice so each to their own. I love the guitar work on bruise pristine. Also, there is no keyboard in 36 degrees so it's all guitar. |

I think theyre a pretty teenage thing, and if you navigate yr way successfuly thru teenagerhood then you like things like Placebo with a fond memory.

U2 until 1992-1993 were way better than Placebo. I'd be very proud if I made records as good as The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby. |

Yes, Placebo fortunately didn't exist in 1992-1993, so we were safe from harm back then.
