There are two important reasons why the new forum is great:
1. Lots of very cool new members (too many to even attempt a list) 2. This one is much more active than the old one. It has been a very good twelve months. http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/index.php is still the best place on the webs.

You say it’s your birthday. It’s my birthday too – yeah. They say it’s your birthday. We’re gonna have a good time. I’m glad it’s your birthday Happy birthday to you. Yes we’re going to party party Yes we’re going to party party Yes we’re going to party party. I would like you to dance – Birthday Take a cha-cha-cha-chance – Birthday I would like you to dance – Birthday dance You say it’s your birthday. It’s my birthday too – yeah. You say it’s your birthday. We’re gonna have a good time. I’m glad it’s your birthday Happy birthday to you. What follows is some fairly funny rabble babble, but hey, at least they like The Beatles. by weezerific:cutlery on 04-13-2002 @ 12:51:51 AM well..it's not my birthday..but this song is cute. by roger wilco on 06-09-2002 @ 03:21:22 PM john reportedly hated this song while paul loved it... by Sylverfish02on 08-21-2002 @ 10:13:08 PM This is how good the Beatles were: They took the words "You say it's your birthday. It's my birthday, too." and turned it into one of the most famous classic rock songs in history!! If any other band ever tried that, they'd be looking for a new record company... by fabi_jara on 09-04-2002 @ 07:09:39 PM It is a good song, but not one of my Favorites by tommy5454 on 03-28-2003 @ 04:33:12 AM i dont think this is one of the most famous classic rock songs of all time, though it is pretty famous by applescruff_beatles on 04-16-2003 @ 07:44:18 AM There's a Pattie Boyd voice in this song... she sings," Birthday..." with Yoko Ono. I like this songs! by maestroon 06-06-2003 @ 06:07:41 AM great song- celebrates the meaning birthday and you'll always have a good time listning to this song by sebastianquilt on 04-20-2004 @ 07:22:51 PM beautifully written, mostly by Paul (brains of beatles) and then torched by John who made fun of all of Pauls work simply inspite of jealousy. John was great too, I am just more of a paul fan,. BUt Pauls main inspiriation for writing songs as was johns was practically competing against the other!@ byoidimed on 05-08-2004 @ 08:06:16 AM Bitchin'! It actually was my birthday thursday! OOHH YEAH! by sqrt144 on 06-16-2004 @ 10:06:35 PM the song was written to be a simple, catchy hit played at birthdays and such. however, it was never released as a single (no songs on the white album were) so it never really reached the potential intended. i heard that on the weekly radio show "beatle brunch" on sunday mornings by hippie-chick on 06-18-2004 @ 07:37:14 AM IT'S PAUL'S 62nd B-DAY !! by yamahasixstring on 10-24-2004 @ 07:25:07 PM I think this is about drugs. Just kidding lol Ironic, since this is clearly a birthday song. by Philadelphia Eagles on 10-29-2004 @ 10:14:16 PM I think Ringo plays pretty good in this song. by Bertxx on 10-30-2004 @ 01:26:02 AM i think u suck fat cocks. by Philadelphia Eagles on 11-24-2004 @ 02:52:51 AM Naw dude, it's you. ) by ZoSo028on 02-12-2005 @ 11:34:27 AM this song isn't very famous, dumbass... by caliente! on 05-07-2005 @ 10:56:20 AM philadelphi eagles, you know why ringo plays "pretty good in this song"? CAUSE ITS FUCKIN PAUL! it's a known fact that ringo wasnt the best drummer in the beatles. this song has the best drums out of all the collective beatles songs, cause paul rules and ringo drools. just kidding. octopus garden is heavy. by Boss Man on 07-28-2005 @ 11:32:40 AM ringo played on this not paul. i'd rather listen to a creative drummer like ringo than some clown who expects you to listen to him jerking off for a ten minute drum solo. |

by patknowsimcooleos on 08-13-2005 @ 06:21:02 AM Actually Paul might've played on this song since Ringo left for a part of the White Album's recording. Paul's name is given credit as playing drums on some of the tracks on the album. Still a great song. Ringo did have a solo, though, on "The End" from Abbey Road.
by ImDaWalrusToo on 02-22-2006 @ 12:34:26 AM If you go to www.beatlessongs.com and click on "albums" and look at The White Album, you will see that RINGO...NOT PAUL is credited and listed as the drummer on this..just wanted to clarify, feel free to check the link as proof if need be! Rock on Beatles..the greatest rock n roll band in history!!!!! by otohp on 03-05-2006 @ 01:30:28 AM no matter who played the drums, this song gets old fast byotohp on 03-05-2006 @ 01:31:05 AM but i do love the beatles by otohpon 03-05-2006 @ 01:31:43 AM but i do love the beatles by pupudoo on 03-19-2006 @ 02:43:23 AM This song is another bit of proof that Paul is not a talented song writer at all! He can play a guitar, play drums, and even play my male organ(very well) but he can not write music and is definatley not the"brains of the beatles" by pupudoo on 03-19-2006 @ 02:43:39 AM This song is another bit of proof that Paul is not a talented song writer at all! He can play a guitar, play drums, and even play my male organ(very well) but he can not write music and is definatley not the"brains of the beatles" by pupudooon 03-19-2006 @ 02:49:15 AM By the way, if your planing on flaming me or proving me wrong. Let me just say listen to the lame crap that Paul put out after the break up compared to Johns, Georges, and even some of Ringos work that was so much more deep and just plan better. by eirikws on 04-14-2006 @ 05:52:12 PM It's my birthday, and this song really rocks. Oh yeah. by chocolatehearts on 04-28-2006 @ 05:26:38 AM I've read that they just sat down and wrote this song in one day, didn't involve any planning in it whatsoever. It's a pretty good song for making it up kind of on the spot like that. John said it was a piece of crap, basically. by handsdown4dbeatleson 05-13-2006 @ 02:34:35 AM But chocolate hearts! That's what I don't agree with John at all. Anything about The Beatles' music is not crap. Or maybe, another man's trash is another man's treasure. If John says that this is a piece of crap, I disagree. I can't write music. I don't have what it takes to be even half a Beatle. That's why I love The Beatles so much. They are geniuses. What I'm trying to say is, no matter what, I think their music rocks!! And for the one who said that 'it was a known fact that Ringo was not the best drummer in The Beatles', I disagree. Ringo is The Drummer in The Beatles, and that's that. I think you said that because an interviewer asked Paul or John if they think that Ringo is the best drummer in The Beatles. And they replied with, "He's not even the best drummer in The Beatles." I don't think so. John, Paul and George was sad when Ringo left while they are recording for the 'White" album. They made him come back. Ringo's drumset (well, the whole room) was full of flowers to welcome him back. RINGO IS THE BEST DRUMMER IN THE BEATLES. I THINK HE'S THE BEST DRUMMER IN THE WORLD. If you still don't think that Ringo is a good drummer, you just have to listen to Tomorrow Never Knows. You'd be really amazed. Oh yeah, I don't think this song is crap. Because Paul McCartney played this song on his concert in Russia. (I forgot if it was Red Square of St. Petersburg). Btw, I feel bittersweet whenever I hear The End. It was Ringo's first and last drum solo throughout the years of the Beatles. by kaleidoscopeeyes8 on 06-05-2006 @ 02:46:13 PM This song beats that stupid regular "Happy Birthday" song, hands down. by kaleidoscopeeyes8 on 06-05-2006 @ 02:47:49 PM And that hands down comment was not directed towards "Handsdown4dbeatles" - I did not even read the second page of comments before posting. But man, talk about a coinky-dink. But then again, I do not believe in coincidences, so.... that is just weird! by tres_oiseau on 06-06-2006 @ 05:34:19 PM This song is one of the ones where the bealtes just sat down with their instruments and experimented. Basically they played with some chords and rythms and then John began signing "You say it's your birthday" (because suposedly there was a newspaper on the ground in the studio talking about someone's birthday) and then the rest of the beatles and anyone in the room just shouted out a line and they went with it. This song was written in a very short amount of time and to prove some of you idiots wrong- 1. Ringo did play on this and even though Paul, George, and John can play drums pretty well, Ringo is better because he has a lot of styles so that he can play with to make the drums match the song's mood better. That is why I think Ringo is the best drummer, he doesn't have much technical talent but when he plays, he plays with soul and that makes the drums match the song and the rest of the instruments so that the song just "clicks". there aren't many drummers that can do that. 2. Paul is a good writer and is much better than u, asshole. Plus, he didn't even write this song himself... so go read up on some beatles facts before you start spouting your ignorant thoughts to the world. by tres_oiseau on 09-23-2006 @ 04:11:05 PM I apologize for my extremely rude post. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and I should not be insulting those who share their thoughts, no matter how much i disagree. Please forgive my incompetance. peace and love -Alex by TheFifthBeatleon 01-21-2007 @ 06:04:05 PM My friends played this to me when I turned 18 a couple of months ago. I will never forget it. I'm having trouble discribing how much I like this song. I've sitten here at the keyboard for about ten minutes and the song is on it's fourth repeat. But I can't put my affection in words. It's a strange song, I mean. It's something about it that just makes me smile. I always get very happy when I listen to it.
