monkey boy: two bass players, one drummer, i believe, check out a song called 'planet paul pope'
brassy: not sure about this one, i remember them vaguely..never really liked them bass extremes: three bassists, all with diff tunings and stuff..pretty progressive fingersmoran: one bassist and a drummer, but the bass player uses a looper all the time |

Something like that. But my idea would have it so the guitar would concentrate on the rhythm, leaving the full concentration on the bass. I was thinking one bass would be doing something lead guitarish, while the other would do some noisy chord things.

I once saw The Melvins with 2 bassists, it was when Joe Preston was subbing for Lorax while she was sick, and then she was coming back to the band, before dickweed canned her, and then they moved to LA and sucked out loud. the end.

There was a Canadian slow-grind band during the powerviolence era called Seized who had three bassists.
There's a band currently from Vancouver called Modern Creatures who have a hi-bass and lo-bass and drums...catchy stuff, too: http://www.myspace.com/moderncreatures

The cure uses two basses on the song Primary, and use a Fender 6 string bass a lot in conjunction with regular bass.

There's a wonderful and highly underrated band in Czech republic called GNU, which has 2 bass players in it and plays raw noise rock in the likes of Killdozer, Tar, Cop Shoot Cop etc.
check out their myspace: http://www.myspace.com/gnurock They run also this very vivid HC/punk label called Silver Rocket there: www.silver-rocket.org no, they did not pay me for posting me, although one of the band members is my friend
