Well I first heard it about 25 years ago. I think it's time for me to give up on it. I have the album, but only ever play Marquee Moon these days. |

wow
leave it to the sonic youth board i've never met anyone who dislikes drive like jehu... how CAN you dislike drive like jehu?! i honestly think they're one of the only bands who doesn't have a single bad song.. granted, they only have like 20 songs, but yeah. the songs are complex without being too complex with cool lyrics, crazy guitar lines (i think the chorus of "atom jack" is the only time a conventional power chord is ever played), flawless drumming, awesome bass lines, one of the best vocalists ever, insane song structures, yada yada yada. Truely one of the only perfect bands ever. There is not a single moment in any of their songs that is flawed. I gotta vote for "Super Unison" and "If It Kills You" as two of the greatest songs ever written. wow. "Yank Crime" is EASILY one of the best albums of all time. Though I do slightly prefer Hot Snakes, Jehu is fucking amazing. Anyway, I've thought about this thread some more... and there is this Broken Social Scene song I like... but I didn't dig the rest of the album at all... so, I'll say BRoken Social Scene, though I don't remember what song I liked.. I think it was maybe "Almost Crimes"... |

Yeah, honestly, Jehu and Polvo are really similiar if you think about it. Leaders of early 90's angular weirdo noise rock without being too noisey or rocky.
Also, Dismemberment Plan were brilliant. I think SOMETHING about them makes people dislike them, and I'm pretty sure it's the singer: he's actually a great lyricist and has a decent voice, but the way he sings .. or maybe it's the production of his vocals .. turn lots of people off.. but if you actually listen to Emergency and I from beginning to end and aren't convinced that the D-Plan were brilliant (every song is COMPLETELY different!), I'm .. that confuses me. |

Also, since I didn't really elaborate on Gang of Four, "Solid Gold" is a really really good record. fuck that entertainment shit (it's a good record but "i found that essence rare" and "5.45" or whatever it's called are the only songs I come back to)... solid gold is where it's at.. it's like entertainment with like 40 layers of darkness.. paralyzed is an amazing song..

I think you can determine a persons charactor by who they like more, The Clash or the Sex Pistols. It doesn't surprise me you choose the latter. Nevermind the Bollocks indeed.
