I remember an early version of this tune called Sylvia's Magick Chord.Right about after 911 at a show at the Calvin Theater they opened with it.It ranks right up there with one of the greatest live SY experiences for me.

Probably in my top 10. Def. my fav from the album though. I remember looking most forward to that song live on the Murray St. tour, and it was very nice live. Nice touch w/ Lee on the keys too. Make's me think, a little more of keys in SY song's wouldn't be a bad thing!
Also, one of my favorite of Steve grooves...... straight forward hats and snare but nice kick drum groove to much of the songs credit! |

It's not in my Top 5. But it is very high. It probably narrowly beats out "Karenology" as my favorite track on MS.

Favorite song off Murray Street depending on my mood. Some days it will be Karenology or Radical Adults, but usually the Sympathy For The Strawberry is too great.
I would also like to add to everyone's collective enjoyment of this song live. |

I totally agree. I think of a lot of things in general as "together." I'd say it's definitely in my top 10. |

Hey yeah, I remember them playing that at the Calvin. Did they open with it though? I remember they kind of screwed up the ending a bit, and Kim stared at Steve for awhile looking kind of upset. I also remember driving around the berkshires and listening to it. Def in my top 10.

It's a great conclusion to a great album. However, I would love to hear it stripped down. It could stand strong with so much less going on. It's also the epitome of one of Kim's various vocal styles... "innocent young girl" if you will. It really works here. As for top 5? It just makes my top 5 for Murray Street. I agree with Protectmeyou, "it's a Sonic Youth song." That alone makes it fucking awesome. Still for Sonic Youth's catalog, it's not a stand out for me.
By the way, I love threads dedicated to single songs. It's great to focus on each one for a time.

I love it.
Thinking about it I think there's a Can vibe to it in the repetitive rhythm.

Yeah, love it. Massage The History off the new album is cut from a similar cloth, IMO
