I'd never seen that video before. It's fucking brilliant. I love the version of Dum Dum on the Blind Eye DVD. I know you've seen it, but for those unfortunates that haven't, here it is (and with a nice open access TV intro to boot): http://youtube.com/watch?v=pkdrmTY7OZw I sometimes wonder if the Butthole's weren't, for a while, the absloute greatest band in the entire history of the world. |

i like hairway the best
then locust, rembrant independant. i also love piouhd. it has some terrible filler, like all of the country songs. but it has some amazing moments, like revolution part two and especially PSY which is their masterpeice and one of my favorite songs of all time. its definatly worth a listen

And they're still one of the only drug associated bands that actually sound good on drugs.

locust abortion technician is their best album musically. its their most realized album, combining all the things they did best. 70s psych rock, noise, lost of rhtyhms, great guitars, and insanely fucked up. on that note, its only my third favorite by them. smy favorite is psychic powerless, second favorite is rembrandt pussyhorse. you cant go wrong with any of their 80s touch and go stuff, one of the best bands of that era no doubt.
ive never really met anyone who knows the butthole surfers and doesnt like them.

Yeah, Definately stay away from Electric Larry Land. It's got like 2 good songs on it. That's it. Whatever albums you get, make SURE you get Hairway to Steven. But yeah Locust Abortion Technician and Rembrant Pussyhorse are essential. Rembrant Pussyhorse is CRAZY, waiting for jimmy to kick, mark says alright. Such an evil sounding album |

Oh yeah, Pioughd and Widowermaker are both awesome too. Don't listen to people that tell you Pioughd sucks. It's pretty much the same as Hairway to Steven, except with one drummer instead of two.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=wVcaYWlXtag Here's some awesome live footage from the Pioughd Widowermaker era |

butthole intrest died shortly after they released independent worm saloon..... locust and hairway are classic albums by a pretty over hyped and average band.....thats my opinion anyhoo!
piughd isnt that bad tho, its just a bit repetitive..... |

the buttholes live show is testament to the fact that they were NOT an average band, but an insane and amazing fucking band. their show was toally influenced by performance art, and gave an aspect of wierdness to a scene that was dominated by more straight ahead punk rock at the time. i love watching fotage of their shows inj the 80s, makes me wish i was alive back then, but then again, id be old by now, so fuck that.

butthole surfers are one of the top 5 greatest american bands of the last 30 years.
There will never be another quite like them.

Butthole Surfers are probably the most creative american band of all time.
Even though I like independed worm saloon, I understand why lots of hardcore Surfers fan's don't. It was their first album that was a HUGE departure from their original sound. But It still rocks though, and it's so beautiful in parts. I almost treat it as a really kick ass side project of Gibby's. But yeah Larryland And Weird Revolution were both turds. ( even though there were like 2 good songs from each ) |

I would watch dum dum on repeat. Still do ha! And Hey!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=K_PNJhmFTuo that one's got a great performance of the first song from Hairway to Steven with Gibby lighting his middle finger on fire. It's also got cool Jackofficer sounding studio footage |
