It's called Octopus in english and you can buy the 3x DVD box set. I use to watch it with my grandparents in the mid 80's. They were Italian and got the whole serie sent over on VHS from relatives back home in the "old country". Do you remember the scene where they do the Sicilian necktie job on one of the capos. Explicitly brutal torture sequence.

Yeah Mafia shit is hot. I like the deleted scenes from The Godfather as well.
I also like British Gangster films as well Snatch, Lock Stocked & 2 Smoking Barrels, Gangster Number 1 & Layer Cake. I'd like to see films on Japanese mafia (the Yakuza).

Richie's films are great! The Kray brothers were 2 of the most notorious gangsters in London in the 60's. The film was pretty bad. The Kray's were played by the Kemp brothers from Spandau Ballet?!... remember? The book is great though.

mob comedies worth seeing
Midnight Run (not just a comedy, but Dennis Farina is so great in it as is of course De Niro & it's the best role Charles Grodin ever played...it's one of my favorite movies & the only drawback is some of the music) Broadway Danny Rose Mad Dog and Glory (Murray/De Niro/Thurman) The Freshman (Brando parodying his role as Don Vito=priceless cinema) Some Like It Hot (the AFI ranks this as the #1 comedy of all-time...now that's a laugh) Johnny Dangerously Bullets Over Broadway Prizzi's Honor Family Business Crimewave Analyze This (skip Analyze That) Suicide Kings 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag Wise Guys Married to the Mob The Whole Nine Yards (skip The Whole Ten Yards) note that Miller's Crossing is officially deemed a crime thriller & is a very black comedy at best; also noteworthy is that Crimes & Misdemeanors, which isn't wholly a comedy, is based around a mafia/gangland hit; if either one of these movies were included they would top the list. Am I leaving some out? Please add any contributions. |

Nice list Atari!
Speeking of mob comedies, what about Bugsy Malone (1976) by Alan Parker. Great roles by Jodie Foster and Scott Baio. I love the cake splatters and pedal transport. Millers crossing is a pretty good film. Forgot that one.

working in the federal court i get the real nonfiction. i've done bail hearings for capos in the gambino family and i did a three-month trial of the rudaj organization, the albanians who actually kicked one of the italian families out of queens. i just did a pretrial conference last week of john gotti jr. never gotten an italian family trial yet though.

Pulled from a website...we all know this scene...
These scenes are interspersed with scenes of Michael's men preparing to murder the heads of the New York crime families. As the music reaches a climax , the priest turns and asks: Priest: "Michael Francis Rizzi (the baby) do you renounce Satan?" Michael Corleone (the godfather): "I do renounce him." Priest: "And all his works?" Michael: "I do renounce them." Priest: "And all his pomps?" Michael: "I do renounce." Priest: "Michael Francis Rizzi, will you be baptized?" Michael: "I will." Priest: "In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit go in peace, and may the Lord be with you." Fucking awesome...

But seriously, it doesn't get much better than DeNiro and Pacino

I don't think it's wise to advertise that. For your sake.
