There are several ways that you could translate that. Batman spying on the whole city to try to catch the Joker, or Harvey Dent being entrusted to bring criminals to justice and becoming a non law abiding madman. |

Fuck yes, I saw it at midnight on the 18, opening showing. Goddamn righteous!!! Heath Ledger definitely stole the show, the Joker was absolutely mental. "I'll make this pencil... disappear."
I'm sort of bummed that Nolan hasn't even signed on for a third one yet, I hope they continue this new series.

Batman himself is looked at as a man with too much influence, even though he's in a position where he's fighting crime, he's in a position where he doesn't have to answer to anyone. The movie also denounces anarchy and vigilantism for a flawed justice system/democracy.

That would be a good thing. Though I understand Bond is partly motivated in this new one by revenge for Vesper's death--and that this in part sparks his rogue "misbehavior" to seek out the people responsible in ways that MI6 would rather he not. A lot of duty vs. personal tension. Maybe reading a lot into the clips but this is what I pick up.

It denounces the flawed justice system/democracy the most. They put all of their hopes into Harvey Dent, and look what happens. Look, the people vote to blow each other up. The only thing that the movie affirms is the ability of someone to step up and do the right thing. Of good to overcome evil, but in an anarchistic fashion, regardless of the rules. Which goes back to your Bush argument. |

Normally i cannot be arsed with films At All. But the last Batman film was the last film i saw at the cinema and i loved it, so poor old Heath dying made me worry it would be encased in gold just cause he died soon after, but all the suggestions are its going to be well up to scratch, and i sincerely hope it is.

This movie shouldn't be criticized because of Bush, Bush should be criticized for trying to be like Batman. That cunt.
But anyways, yeah I loved the film, saw it twice already and want to see it a third time in Imax. Had been following it since Batman Begins ended, remember when they cast ledger two years ago and last summer when they were filming. I actually got to see and take a picture next to the building that was the opening scene in the film, the bank, when I was in Chicago for a short amount of time in august. Ledger was amazing..."you're NOT!? then why do you dress like him? shhhh shh shh" if you've seen it, you know what scene I'm referring to and how chilling it was. RIP dude. oh, and aaron eckart kind of...blew it out of the water as well! He did a great job, and the story they made for his character and the vision they went with was straight out of the fucking source material... oh was batman in this? he was good too... EDIT: btw how the fuck hasn't ROB posted about this film yet? |

Batman is the only superhero I have EVER cared about in my entire life. Yet I haven't seen this film. Because I don't like big crowds of people. So I'll see it soon.

"The thing about chaos is that its fair . "
Fuck , every time The Joker speaks time stands still and you cant lean in close enough . That intense performance was easliy the most convincing and the most delicately sane character in the whole flick . |

while drawing a very thin line between that and why it works. ---- best batman movie ever and i doubt i'll see a better movie this year. why? it's not a superhero movie. seriously, think about it. i never gave a rat's ass about the joker, i understood what was up with him, the complexity of the character, his relationship with batman, etc. but it always got on my tits his persona, the overblown happy guy bordering with dementia but not enough (want a real batman villian? bane; that's a fucked up villian, i though.) but now, holy shit, perfect joker, best joker ever, not just the acting but the character itself. he's a fucking monster, and harvey dent...i'll just say he was how he was because he was way too human. i still don't buy what's his face...mom assaulter who killed jared leto while talking about huey lewis and the news, but it didn't matter. a batman i didn't like worked perfectly. i really want to see it again. |

The thing about the over the top cackling joker that you hate is that it was created in the 60s. Batman started in the 30s or early 40s I believe. And in Jokers first appearance, he was very dark and grimacing and smiled maybe once.
Chris Nolan knocks another one out of the fucking park as far as staying true to the source material. & btw, I never read the comics but after I saw batman begins I fucking wikipediad my ass off about batman lore. He was always my favorite superhero when I was a kid, because he didnt have powers and was just 'driven by will power'. I guess I forgot that over the years, I didn't even know I 'wanted' another batman movie.... guess thats what joel shumacher does to a 14 year old eh? |

personally I liked all the batman films except batman begins. Batman and Robin was terrible -- but it was funny and entertaining. Batman Begins, I thought, was just too long and boring and took itself too seriously and didn't have an exciting moment past a certain point. However, after seeing it, I was confident that the next movie would be amazing...
...I know a lot of people who hated Batman Begins who have seen this one and loved it too... so I'm really excited for this. Gonna wait for the crowds to die though, like I said. |
