silver sessions
its tied for my second fave sy release (behind confusion, and tied with ddn). it just rules. shows that when they want to be, sonic youth can be the best avant guitar noise band on the planet, just as muchj as the best noisey indie band on the planet (evol-all thier full lengths), and just as much as the best nihilist noise punk band on the planet (kill yr idols, confusion, tv shit, and to a lesser extent bad moon rising) i love silver sessions

I voted Master-Dik but that's the only one I own...
Master-dik was really just ok. I enjoy it when songs from it come up on my ipod, but I remember how I was so psyched to hear it,and when it finally came it was just kind of goof aroundswith two actual songs and I felt let down.

Even though SONIC YOUTH is clearly an EP, the band has always considered it their first album.

But it's not an EP. It's an album.
What constitutes an EP? Length in minutes? There are some short albums out there. Some EP's are longer than LP's. Number of songs? Well there's some LP's with only 2 songs on em. So if the band says it's an LP, then we'll just have to trust them. |

I voted 4 Tunna Brix because it's interesting hearing them play Fall songs...

It was definitely a stroke of genius at the time. Imagine they got a Peel session when that was the make or break thing to have in the UK and they showed up and played all Fall covers (including one from This Nation's Saving Grace the album that mocks Fall/SY comparisons on the liner notes!) |
