love buzz by nirvana is quite rare. i only say because a friend had a bootleg copy and sold it to someone for £300.

sounds like the right album, but the one i saw was sold in the states and there was anews story on pitchfork about it going for over $6500

To me that;s just crazy, you could get well over 400-500 regular albums for that

That's not all that expensive really; the American pressing goes for less than 30 dollars and the German one is usually less than 100. Comparatively speaking, not too bad. I got mine for 20 dollars, which was a steal. Then one of my cats sharpened his claws on the spine. Bastard!
I sold a copy of the first edition of the first Can LP for a good chunk (this was for work, not from my personal collection):

I know almost nothing about how the Carter Family did their record buisness but is there an record label listed? They were extremely popular and they probably didn't release limited editions too often but you have to account time and time can make records rare.

"your the girl of my drems but it seems that my dreams never come true"

the Carter Family, ahhhhhh

the diamond dogs reminds me of two rare records:

1) guns n' roses appetite for destruction with the original cover, even though it's not that super rare (i've seen it a couple of times), it calls for a lot of money and it's seeked by many

2) the single disc lp version of metallica's master of puppets, which was recalled because the grooves were too close to each other, they caused the songs to skip“, so they reedited it into a 2xlp set. i don't remember if it was the elektra (u.s.) or music for nations (u.k. and europe) version that was the case. anyway, very rare since most of the records were recalled.

Negativland's U2 comes to mind.
It kills me because I saw it in the store when it came out, but didn't buy it.

Don Cherry - Organic Society (Caprice Records, 2001) x 2 lp

This ultra-rare Don Cherry was recorded live in concert way back in 1972. It's an incredibly difficult to find Holy Grail of a spiritual free jazz LP & was conceived while Don Cherry was living in a commune in Sweden & has a very tribal feel throughout.

One can only find Lennie Trisano & Warne Marsh - Intuition. The original record is Crosscurrent (1948) & is both the true birth of the cool & improvisational free jazz.

Miles Davis (tp -2,13) Charlie Parker (as) Sadik Hakim (p -11,13) Dizzy Gillespie (p -1,10,16, tp, p -14,15) Curly Russell (b) Max Roach (d) WOR Studios, Broadway, NYC, November 26, 1945

14. Ko-ko (short-take 1)
15. Ko-ko (orig.-take 2)
16. Meandering (new-take 1)

This is the double album that was beloved by Jean Michel-Basquait. His tracklist is slightly out-of-order as Warming Up on a Riff is the first & Meandering is the last track.

For the movie, they couldn't even find the recording apparently & substituted snippets from introduction of The Metronome Jazz All-Stars from NYC, January 10, 1950.

Jazz Collectors are the wildest.
Some apartments in New York are practically dangerours due to crazy shelving.
The WFMU record fare is always full of these freaks.

I think my rarest record would be The Fire Escape- Psychotic Reaction. I've also got the original Clash US release with the free 7" inside. I'm not sure how rare that is, but it is cool that it has the original stuff with it.

I got a cool record from Switzerland with a bunch of Swiss bands doing covers of the ABBA song S.O.S. Every cover is very different though, I didn't even realize it at first.
