As far as I can tell from scattered internet posts, you seem mature, but I mean if you liked your present self fully in 4 years, that would mean you made no progress. That's no good.

But I'm not. And I just read an email that I wrote a year and some months ago, and I sound so dumb because I've come so far. It was an email to a friend about coming out and I was asking for advice/support/anything. I liked reading it. I hated the grammar mistakes. "to whoever" should have been to "whomever." lol.

I'm a writing major. It seems like every few months, everything I've written sounds terrible. That's how it goes. Especially grammar. Ugh.

i want writing to be my main profession as an adult, but the problem is i tend to write like i talk. meaning grammatical rules writing are bended or flat-out broken because that's just my style of speaking.

it's usually mortifying to look back on my posts because i cringe knowing how goofy i must read, but yeah.

It's really hard to employ natural writing into serious writing projects. But the more you just write, the easier it gets. It will adapt to your own reaction when you read it back.

yeah, that's my main struggle with myself, like choosing a career and even just writing for myself. if you talk to me in real life, i talk like a decently literate surfer dude with an internet meme obsession. that doesn't translate into many writing projects.

i was at a show in salt lake city this summer, in a glorified shed with an amazing sound system, and i saw this guy across the room who was douglas coupland's twin. i had this internal fight with myself over whether or not i should tell him he looked like coupland, then for some reason half-convinced myself that that was coupland and that he's probably perplexed because i'm staring at him because he's douglas coupland. this makes NO sense to you, probably, but it was a weird ten minutes of my life.

Haha I get it. That's happened to me before, but I usually discount it immediately, because I'm bad at recognizing people and don't trust myself. Being near Hollywood, I've probably ignored several famous people. My friend said I missed Johnny Knoxville like 5 times at a store.
