I just made a thread about a band whom are mainstream but never degrade themselves artistically. I enjoy them.

I've been meaning to check them out. I heard they use a special harmonic trick to get it perfect on every fret

Oh yeah, that's right. You posted a thread about them a while back. I'll give them a listen sometime soon.

They have tons of great singles. Their best of is a good introduction in my opinion. Avoid Don't Stand So Close To Me '86 though - the worst remake a band has ever done to their own song ever.

You'll hear something by the Police (great band) and you'll go: "Ahh, so that was the Police. Cool."
Anyone heard the Incubus (another awesome mainstream band for this thread) cover of of the Police song... I can't remember the name... 'Doo doo doo da da da daaa".. help me out here? Anyway, it's on the "Alive at Redrocks" dvd, and it's very cool.

Yeah! Perfect choice for this thread I think with the mainstreamness etc. Sting on his own was fucking shite though. |

Los Lobos
Government Mule (but not most 'jam' bands, I don't like the twirling...) Pat Metheny (jazz) Peter Gabriel King Crimson Steely Dan shit a ton of other 'obvious' ones...but I tried to pick some that are still viable and performing.
