nothing's wrong with him, but how could you think he should even be considered for inclusion in a Top 10 hip hop albums list???

as good as Funcrusher is, I've never thought it was as solid an album beginning to end as other El-P related albums. I certainly enjoy CanOx's COLD VEIN more. And I love his Fantastic Damage album hardcore.

yeah COLD VEIN is must-have. I do like Funcrusher a lot, but I don't find it a strong album (beginning to end) as much as just a pretty good collection of songs.

I love Funcrusher Plus and it's in my top 10 for sure, but can barely keep myself from getting bored listening to Fantastic Damage (aside from Deep Space 9mm, which is excellent), I'd much rather listen to Mr Len's Pity The Fool album, or Big Juss's stuff than EL-P solo.

wow really? I'm not really a fan of Len or Jus post-CoFlow.
AND I think FANTASTIC DAMAGE is incredible. I mean "Step Father Factory"??? "Time Out Of Joint"???

yeah, i mean those songs are obviously made by an intelligent and visionary mind, but i just don't enjoy listening to them. I just have a hard time with Hiphop that is kind of dirgey. |

ah ok. Gotcha. Yeah I guess it is dirgey. That's a good word for it. His post-CoFlow output is really dense, and it's obviously what appeals to people but certainly could scare others away.

The contrast between the first and second De La Soul records is awesome. I'm also a big fan of Public Enemy's first LP. They didn't have their sound yet, but I just like a less radical Chuck D sometimes. Anybody including any DJ Screw/S.U.C./Texas Hip Hop? Some of favorite my most stuff. |
