The Eraser is definitly a ground-breaking record followed by Kid A. Thom Yorke created a new concept of music,
he broke all those old song structures and arrangements rules... |

Does it sound anything like Aphex Twin? or Boards of Canada?

My local alternative station is playing the hell out of Black Swan, and so far its the only song ive heard from it. To me it sounds like an outtake from Kid A or Amnesiac, not as good as any song on either of those albums. Its not bad, but nothing groundbreaking either.
That being said, I was fortunate enough to see Radiohead earlier this summer in Berkeley. They were absolutely amazing. They played a lot of new material and it sounds awesome. If the stuff they played gives any indication of how the entire new album will be, its gonna be much better than Hail to the Theif, and maybe even Amnesiac. |

i keep trying to listen to it, but the only tracks i can get into are "skip divided" and "the eraser". the rest of it just sounds like radiohead lite! (exclamation point included). after watching the "meeting people is easy" dvd with my girlfriend, and seeing thom play with different synths and bleepbloop making machines, i would've expected an album that involved more than techno with thom yorke singing over it. i blame the success of that "idiotheque" song.

Have heard it. Faint echoes of Richard D. James and Boards of Canada. Will require more listening before passing judgement.

The album is really good. I don't think it's that groundbreaking but who cares? I don't think Rather Ripped is groundbreaking. This doesn't make it a bad album. The album was a very good idea and I found myself trying to duplicate and create similar sounds after I listened to the album. Thom Yorke's voice is very powerful in the Eraser.

Form what I've heard so far, it sounds like sublimation into subzero gases. Like cold washes of electronic bleeps and beats over the shore of your mind. Try it, it's fun!
