ha ha.
i fucking hate this song, to the point of vomit: I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind. Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind [Now] Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy. Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind Dust in the wind, everything is dust in the wind. --- repugnant don't you think? |

You say repugnant, I say TOTALLY PROFOUND.
It's like, making the futility of man's existence in an infinitely cold and uncaring universe accessible to the common man via the accessibility of the Classic Rock Model. You are dead inside. |

Like Charles Bukowski wrote once:
"somebody laid down this rule that everyone's gotta do something. You know, be a doctor, a dentist, a glider pilot. And I'm just tired of thinking of all the things I don't want to be." You will discover your vocation in life. And once you do you will pursue it with passion. You're still young. School will suck the life out of some people. It just does not work for some people. I was one of them. I hated school. I dropped out and left without any qualifications whatsoever. And I'm glad I did.

meh! futility my ass!!
life is a glorious, delicious fucking thing so in the end we blow up what the fuck does it matter? what matters is-- did you live fully and deeply? did you enjoy the ride? to negate the value of life because of the inevitability of death is cowardly and... well-- christian. in the worst possible way. |

I didn't say anything about not enjoying myself and not living fully. I just don't want to live under the illusion that anything I do is going to make a scrap of difference to the general state of things in the grand scheme. Fortunately, I am only concerned with enjoying myself and living to the fullest in the best way I can. No kids, few responsibilities, and loud loud speakers. (I also really hate Kansas, for real) |

The inventor of the espresso machine most definitely lived in vain when it comes to people who think coffee is gross (I am not one of these people).
It's all relative. When you're talking in terms of geological time or eternity beyond this planet, very little we do matters. This is not to say that I don't try to enjoy life and be productive within my own set of priorities. I am more concerned with my own little bubble than I am with the "greater universe" in any case. |

yeah yeah it's all relative, but to devalue life on the basis of relativity is wrongheaded and misguided. "relativity" is only a theory, in fact we have our own instincts and perspectives; to dismiss those on the grounds of some theoretical construct is a form of intellectual suicide-- or suicide by intellect to say it correctly. and from that perspective, kansas can kiss my hairy ass.

The funny thing about that Kansas song is the fact that it will live on long after they are dead as it has now become deeply embedded in Pop Culture.
