Joni Mitchell - Black Crow
There’s a crow flying Black and ragged Tree to tree He’s black as the highway that’s leading me Now he’s diving down To pick up on something shiny I feel like that black crow Flying In a blue sky I took a ferry to the highway Then I drove to a pontoon plane I took a plane to a taxi And a taxi to a train I’ve been traveling so long How’m I ever going to know my home When I see it again I’m like a black crow flying In a blue, blue sky In search of love and music My whole life has been Illumination Corruption And diving, diving, diving, diving. Diving down to pick up on every shiny thing Just like that black crow flying In a blue sky I looked at the morning After being up all night I looked at my haggard face in the bathroom light I looked out the window And I saw that ragged soul take flight I saw a back crow flying In a blue sky Oh I’m like a black crow flying In a blue sky |

I was just wondering.... do you like me? Use just once and destroy Invasion of our piracy Afterbirth of a nation Starve without your skeleton key I love you for what I am not I do not want what I have got A blanket acne'ed with ciggarette burns Speak at once while taking turns What is what i need What is wrong with me What is what i need i'm gonna do with what you think If you ever think at all Bi-polar opposites attract All of a sudden my water broke I love you for what I am not I do not want what I have got A blanket acne'ed with ciggarette burns Second-rate third degree burns what is what i need What is wrong with me What do I think I think hate your enemies Save, save your friends Find, find your place Speak, speak the truth what is what i need What is wrong with me what is what i need What do I think I think Use just once and destroy Invasion of our piracy Afterbirth of a nation Starve without your skeleton key What is wrong with me what is what i need (x2) What do I think i think What is wrong with me what is what i need (x2) What do I think i think

"The Moon" by the Microphones
"and you held my hand you almost got to start feeling me I finally felt like I was breathing free" "I went back to feel alone there I went back there by myself I gave up on everything that we had felt" "there is nothing left except certain death and that was comforting under the moon" "I went out last night to forget that I went out and stared it down but the moon just stared back at me and in its light I saw my two feet on the ground" It's quite an emotional song. I just posted a couple of the lyrics, but the whole song blows my mind.

Also the first three lines in total peace ( All I need is one true friend/I want total peace of mind/To leave the hurting world behind) is part of my worldview, or at least my love view.

The intro lines to Beck's "Atmospheric Conditions" are always great to sing along to, especially with Calvin Johnson's deep voice. Unity in hopelessness:
"There's nobody There's no mountain There's no tunnel You can't get from there to here You can't get from here to there..." Another Beck track, "Ramshackle", the closer to Odelay, I really get into. He's like a friend in the room on this song, especially in these lines: "Your train's in the sand Ramshackle land Let the rats watch the races We will go Nowhere we know 'Til we find our one and all" I love Beck's lyrics, really. I feel bad for saying this on SY's corporate site, but yeah. "Drink mah coffee with a hubcap... yeah". |

Im a pretty cold person, and never really connect with anything. I think its stupid to have meaningful lyrics in a song, its more interesting to express no emotion at all. I wish I was a robot so I wouldnt have to think about this.

"Let the eagle soar,
Like she’s never soared before. From rocky coast to golden shore, Let the mighty eagle soar. Soar with healing in her wings, As the land beneath her sings: 'Only god, no other kings.' This country’s far too young to die. We’ve still got a lot of climbing to do, And we can make it if we try. Built by toils and struggles God has led us through." |

I the live version of 'Glam Racket' on the 'Oxymoron' compilation LP, Brix Smith sings of certain famous celebrity types (and Suede in particular): they say you are a star, but I don't give a fuck, I watch your head expanding as you're running out of luck. I can relate to thosre sentiments - I thought of using it as my signiature.
