Noriko's Dinner Table -
Bit disappointed with this, maybe my expectations were too high after reading about it.I've not seen Suicide Club yet either, that might be abit better?. It started off really good, but then sorta lost it.. |

Suicide Club is awesome.
Dinner Table looks cool but it's like 2 1/2 hours long isn't it? Meh. That director is pretty interesting. I liked Strange Circus by him. Hair Extensions was okay too. |

Glad to hear you made it to QoS. I was disappointed. I was expecting another Casino Royale. But it was still fun--and still far, far better than anything pre-Casino. We can only hope they learn from this mistake and do better next time around.

Suicide Club was half overblown absurdist comedy and half serious social study.

I didnt think people actually liked James Bond movies. I mean, I know that the movies are like "blockbusters" and that "people" go see them. But I never really knew anyone in real life that gave a crap that a new James Bond movie was coming out.

The Bond franchise was given new life with Casino Royale, where for the first time, in my opinion, the moviemakers got it right. I've enjoyed--not loved--Bond movies ever since seeing Thunderball as a 12-year-old kid, but even then I thought they were a bit hokey. They've only been a little bit of escapist fun. But the new Craig Bond is absolutely superb and something to look forward to. I had been looking forward to Quantum ever since seeing Casino, and I've watched Casino probably more times than I've watched any other movie. I'm truly captivated by it--it is, in my mind, the best true spy movie made, aside from perhaps The Spy Who Came in from the Cold. Also, don't be such a snob. There are all kinds of movies for all kinds of reasons.

I've enjoyed the last 2 movies. QoS was pretty good, but not great. I loved Casino Royale. The newer Bond films with Daniel Craig are a lot grittier and, dare I say, realistic. I could never get into any of the other Bond movies.

Yeah, they're definitely grittier and, as much as a spy movie can be, more "real" feeling. That's much of what I love about the new direction the Bond movies are taking. Also, no big gadgets, no mad scientists.

Haha, noisereductions. I'm going to try to rep you. There are some good Bond movies. Most of them are pretty much identical though. Haven't seen the last 2.

I wasn't being a snob, at all. I was just stating I didn't realize that people were really into James Bond. I always figured it was just a lot of marketing hype. Jeez, man I just said I watched The f'ing Holiday. There's no way I'm any sort of film snob. haha. |

I have an uncle (ex-uncle, actually) who is obsessed with Bond. OBSESSED. Not only does he act like James Bond and watch the movies all the time, but he actually has pictures of the different Bonds (although more Pierce Brosnan than the others) glued around his mirror in his bathroom. He also talks about how he wants to invest in gold.
He's a little out of his mind.
