Why is the 'hipster' label always applied to Sonic Youth? That's always sort of bugged me. Who came up with that and is it a good thing or a bad thing? I've listened to them since '98 but I've only seen that tagline applied to them over the last few years.

^ The way I see it....Most hipsters "listen" to SY because they're a popular underground artist... They don't really know about SY.
