the one from the side is better but there are closeups where you can see the massive swords sinking into chiellini's shoulder.

Fucking Suarez is probably one of the dirtiest players in futbol history. Why do people lick his nuts? Dude should be booed out of the game, period.
I mean come on, cheating in big League matches? Check. Cheating in WC elimination matches? Check. Cheating in MULTIPLE WC elimination matches? Three strikes and you're out motherfucker!

Honestly, I don't wanna sound like a contrarian here but I loved it. Until Uruguay scored I thought Italy were playing a perfect defensive game. Not spectacular but still brilliant. But to play like that without the cushion of a goal was a massive risk that in the end backfired. Until then (more in response to Suchfriends) it wasn't about what Uruguay was or wasn't doing, but about the way for 80 minutes Italy totally controlled the game. And then Suarez tried to eat Chiellini and provided more entertainment value than any goal I think I've ever seen. Although if FIFA prove he did bite him, that must mean a ban for the rest of the tournament ... and about a thousand new memes to replace the Ivanovich ones. But yeah, honestly it was a game I could've watched for hours ... cannibalism or no cannibalism |

Precisely. Although while I had no no problem with Uruguay beating them, the thing I loved about it so much was the way Italy dictated everything - until the end, obviously. It was the most classically 'Italian' performance we've seen so far ... far more than the one against England. If you wanted to show anyone the strengths of the Italian style you could show the first 80 minutes, then show all of it to show its potential flaw. Loved it. But then I do love Italy when they're being 'Italy', even to a fault. Irony is Prandelli is a very 'un-Italian' mananger that'll probably be sacked (edit: just heard he's already gone) after his team played a typically 'Italian' game. |

We all clearly love futbol for very contrastingly different reasons, but at least we all clearly love it mutually

I'm watching Ivory Coast because clearly as CONCACAF follower I like defensive teams.. But yeah, Japan is fucking damned good at attacking with speed. I like them, but I want to watch Ivory Coast in case this is their last game because I really like them and their athletic style. They play strong more so than fast.

If Suarez is allowed to play I'm not quite sure I can ever watch FIFA again, period, end of discussion. The corruption of international politics and economics is bad enough pill to swallow, but at least we had the game itself to enjoy? If they are politically and economically corrupt AND blatantly corrupting the game at a fundamental level that was just witnessed by literally BILLIONS of eyes and will be on constant GIF loop across Twitter for days??? That would be waving the white flag. When an NBA ref who was involved in a crucial 2007 NBA playoff series that ended on some very controversial officiating to say the least (that is, euphemistically) subsequently plead guilty to fixing 54 NBA games and served 14 months in Federal prison in 2008, I stopped watching basketball entirely for 4 years, and really only begrudgingly embraced it again, albeit with the caveat of acknowledging that it all could be good fiction, but hey, I like novels and movies. That being said, my brain can only handle one fictional sport at a time

I don't think you need worry that if they can prove Suarez bit him he'll be banned probably for the rest of the tournament at least. There might be some problem proving it but I can't imagine what. There is corruption in football but I don't see this being the kind of decision it affects. Why would FIFA not want to ban him if they can prove it? |

Fucking shit, so should I just stop wasting my time altogether by watching any of these fucking matches before injury time and just put it on at the 88th minute or fucking what!!
Ball don't lie, respect to Greece, Ivory Coast had their chance, but fucking shit it sucks.

To be sure, I don't disagree with the ref blowing a whistle on that last play, but I think giving a fucking DIRECT FREE FUCKING KICK was just plain wrong. Fuck that. Let the GAME decide itself, not the fucking refs!
Ivory Coast got robbed, but in the end, that is sport, you rob yourself when you give up chances to win on your own.. They didn't lose this match on that one play, they lost it by not scoring on any of their good looks or by letting Greece score that lucky fucking goal in the 1st half.. Also, for any of those who don't believe me when I say winning comes down to capitalizing on good luck as much as skill this match and the Portugal-USA match are exhibits A and B respectively

Sighs.. fucking exactly. But hey, they are this World Cup's Cinderella err... Staxtopouta so it is what it is. I still totally think that was an absolutely atrocious officiating decision in granting the free kick. An indirect free kick Yeah, that was totally fair. But a fucking match deciding direct free kick? That fucking totally sucks, in fact, it really sucks even worse than allowing Suarez to vampire his way into the Knock Out round over Italy because at least Suarez is facing penalties, sanctions, or even long term banning meanwhile Ivory Coast has to go home to a war torn country breaking Africa's heart AGAIN..
Yeah, technically Algeria is still alive and indeed Ghana has a 50-50 shot to advance (which I'm dreading now) but this was still a complete kick in the balls to African futbol. While Greece is a great Cinderella story, Ivory Coast would have been not only an even better one, but also a better chance of beating Costa Rica. Well, now I hope Costa Rica gives Greece a good thrashing reality check

costa rica is absolutely positively the real cinderella this year. i'm impressed with that. didn't see their england game but 0-0 to secure their first place is a pretty fucking great result.
problem with ivory coast is that its best players (except for toure) are now washed out. and gervinho-- for everyone he scores, he fucks up 19. i didn't see them play this game but i saw them vs colombia, and from what i've spied, ghana is the best african team this year--potent, just in a tough group. they stood up to germany like champs. oh, and there's the suprising france b team known as algeria (thanks for the fantasy points!) but i haven't really seen them play-- they did have an easy group though. but anyway, be careful what you ask for-- maybe ghana beats the shit out of portugal and we get send home. re: suarez, i spotted some ticker saying he might get 2 years or 24 games suspension-- but no discussion. if colombia passes, costa rica-colombia should be amazing. pinto (the CR coach) is colombian, so he might have to commit seppuku so the narcos spare his family. shit! yes, this is a country where people have been killed for less. (watch "two escobars") |
