SPOILERS
Every film he's in, except Glory to the Filmmaker, Kikajiro, and Getting Any? (and probably his new one but I haven't seen it) ends with him killing himself or dying, though only in his mind in one film. /END SPOILERS. Dolls is my favorite besides the ones you mentioned that you saw. |

Oh, and Sonatine and Hana-Bi should both be re-released by Criterion one day.

Really, a 9.5? It's really good, though it's definitely the worst of the vengeance trilogy; it's kinda cheesy how the main villian has all these high-tech gadgets and such, but I really loved the emotional climax. Go see Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance!!! Anyone notice how in the Watchmen trailer, that's a slow motion throw of one of the characters, shot outside of a building window, that looks almost identical to the throw in Oldboy? (the only difference is, in Oldboy, the character is thrown against the window) OH, and me., BIG BANG LOVE JUVENILE A is insane, isn't it? That's Miike's favorite film of his own! I thought it was pretty cool. |

i thought lady vengeance was the worst one, though the prison scenes in it were hilarious. sympathy for mr vengeance really is the best, but oldboy in spite of the shlocky madness a la count of montecristo but not really is fucking excellent, especially as a 2nd installment. |

I remember liking Jin Roh when I saw it, but being slightly underwhelmed. It's no Akira or GITS

"Che Part Two". Very good, though it required a fair amount of concentration. The scene towards the end was pretty nice - reminded a bit of "Cannibal Holocaust", as it happens.
