Little known fact: In fact, it is NOT the same album. About 3 years ago they rerecorded it and had spies find each and every copy and replace them all.

I too like to hear good technical playing but I look to Built to spill or something like that for well crafted rock songs. I look to sonic youth to make the energy flow through my brain and balls. Murray street does not do this.

Yeah I took 3 somas (shitty muscle relaxers). That's the only time I post. My favorite thing is to get drunk on everclear and take some hydros and listen to shoegaze full blast and then post. That's when I post all the rep-worthyy stuff.

This song is absolutely perfect. The lat seconds right after the drums go away....is amazing. That part always get me. Murray Street took me a while to listen due to my limited funds and increasing number of bands that I had to listen to. It was really different considering I started at Confusion/Kill yr idols, DDN, Sister, Rather Ripped, and Sonic Nurse. The album is actually top five for my SY albums. |

ANYWAY first time I EVER got stoned in my LIFE, I was listening to "rain on tin". Oh man. You always remember the things you listen to on the first drug you ever do, because it usually feels so perfect.
First time doing dex: boredoms - vision creation newsun, oval - 94diskont, then william basinski - disintegration loops vol. 2 First time doing acid: thank you - terrible two, then boredoms - super ae First time doing hydros: Staring at the Twin Peaks season 1 disc 1 DVD intro for an hour and then listening to Stars of the Lid and Captain Beefheart First time doing shrooms: Captain Beefheart, and I was laughing my fucking ass off! Uhhhhhhh.............. First time I got drunk, I listened to the Misfits. |

The best album to listen to on drugs (any drug) is definitely Boris - Flood.

Yes, so Murray Street huh? There was a time when I proclaimed this the best SY record, which by default makes it the best record ever. I don't hold in such high esteem largely due to the dirty sordid and filthy love affair I later had with daydream nation, but MS surely is their most concise record- and it flows perfectly and is appreciable as one suite of music. I don't understand it when people call this record boring, the instrumental passage on Karen Revisted never fails to take me on a wonderful journey everytime I hear it. It's a masterpeice, I tells ya.

Flash forward 6 years later, I play it again and am absolutely knocked back by it.
The same happened with me and NYC Flowers and Ghosts...Hit me like a brick

I think it's a good album, except for the first two songs.
