I remember listening to this Beach Boys greatest hits cd my parents had whenever we drove a long distance. I also remember a beatles mix they made me that I loved as a little kid and listening to Led Zeppelin's Early Days on a road trip.
Those are the three I remember the best. |

though my father never stepped out of the past either, he was a fantastic musician who delved very deep into what he did like , which is cool to me . |

Early childhood? Fuckin' Sharin Lois & Bram, bro.
I have a few old LP's that used to get the spin around here quite often (children's LPs, silly ditties about santi clause and whatnot) And then growing up, KISS was my thing (ugggh) until the Sex Pistols and the Ramones and the Clash and the Dead Boys showed up. Then onto Nirvana, etc.

I remember dad playing lots of Dylan and the Doors, Sabbath, Simon and Garfunkel and more. He got me into Silverchair when I was a wee kid. I loved Michael Jackson and Kriss Kross too. Lots of rap due to my brothers and then lots of the grunge stuff, Nirvana especially due to my brothers and my dad aswell. I remember watching Unplugged when it was on tele. Mix tapes with Travelling Wilburies and a bunch of other cool songs that take me back everytime I hear them, and After the Gold Rush by Neil Young were on high rotation in the car on any trip.

My dad liked Henry Mancini, Lionel Hampton, and swing jazz. Sundays our house was filled with the sound of Henry Mancini's orchestra doing "The Pink Panther Theme" and "Moon River" and Hampton pummeling those vibraphones, all of this emanating from the three-inch speakers behind their earth-tone grills in our Sears & Roebucks faux-walnut cabinet console stereo system. How did I remain sane? Oh, and this corny-ass bastard. Thanks for this thread for taking me into the nightmare of my childhood.

This was my favorite album when I was a kid. I believe I was four when it came out. I've probably listened to it hundreds of times by now. I still have the LP, it's alittle beat up though. |
