My general experience with americans has be very very positive, thats one of the reasons i am planning to move there in 2010.

I know exactly what you mean. Being from England, I find it extremely surreal when somebody is nice to me. For some reason, being nice to strangers is somewhat normal in the US, as far as I've experienced. Like when I was flying to Denver from Philly in 2005, I was seated between these two businessmen, and the rest of my family was seated somewhere else on the plane. Immediately the two guys offered to swap so I could sit with my family, and they did, as everyone else on the plane congratulated them. Very strange indeed.

But yes, it's all in the letter 'R' and the vicious stereotypes. I have had a better time with Americans than I've had with any other people, so that's something to go by.

The main difference that I've noticed between them is that it's been mainly British forum members posting on this thread. There must be some sort of message in that.

I end up riding with Brits a lot. The whole scooter thing attracts lots of Brit ex-pats. Not much of a difference amongst us. The sense of humor thing is definitely there but we get used to each other. You Brits can get quite vulgar in the most hilarious ways at times...oh - and you guys (much like New Yorkers) have a very low tolerance for bullshit.

Well. . . I met some Scots, Aussies, and Brits, the last 2 weeks. Here is as far as I can tell:

different accents

and Scots wear kilts when they dress up.

And 14 year old Scottish girls look much older than they appear. I met this really attractive Scottish girl and quickly found out she was 14.
