There is a funny story about Paris Hiltons album and it goes like this:
Dangermouse (hip hop producer) remixed and repackaged 2,000 copies of her album. The funny part is that all of them sold. Do the research yourself it all is truth. |

Ah, you've just addressed rock fallacy #27. To which my favourite counter is that classical musicians, professional ones, are all, with very, very, VERY few exceptions, better musicians than anything pop or rock has produced, and none of them play their own music. Also, credibility is a non-sequiter. More important is content and delivery. Ramones are 'credible'. Paris isn't (I'll concede that much). Ramones wrote a series of brilliant pop songs. Paris hasn't. Ramones pop songs weren't terribly sophisticated. By comparison, Paris' are. Stars are Blind is a brilliant song. Sheena is a punk rocker is a brilliant song. Neither are great for their construction or crediblity, but because of their delivery. I wonder if Architects ever have this debate? "Yeah, but the builders didn't design the building. It's an ok building, but anyone could've made it if they had enough money. I prefer my building DIY. It might fall apart, but at least it's credible".

you shouldn't have downloaded it, that's stealing! we all know people who make music need the money... especially when they're only just beginning artists, like Paris is! |

It's not 'indie' to like manufactured pop shit, so I'll say I like it and that'll make me ever more 'indie'.
Some of you try too hard.

So you say..... Danger Mouse, Banksy Burn Paris September 5, 2006 Danger Mouse's management confirms he's the "DM" behind the pranksta remixes of Paris Hilton's new album. The doctored Paris Hilton cover Over the weekend, British papers discovered that Banksy, the artist who notoriously sneaked fake versions of famous paintings into art galleries last year, replaced as many as 500 retail store copies of Paris Hilton's debut CD with a retouched and remixed version. Now, it has been revealed that Danger Mouse -- the producer behind Gnarls Barkley, Gorillaz, and the famous Grey Album -- is behind the remix portion of the disc. Along with completely reworked liner notes that included topless photos of Paris slathered with slogans like "Every CD you buy puts me even further out of your league," the CD featured remixes of Hilton songs by someone credited as "DM," letters that stand for Danger Mouse. The song titles were also changed to names like "Why Am I Famous," "What Have I Done," and "What Am I For." According to an email from his management company obtained by SPIN.com, Danger Mouse met Banksy in London while shopping for disguises. The two had one singular statement about the project: "It's hard to improve on perfection, but we had to try." |
