I read an expert on serial killers once saying everyone has the impression that there are more serial killers in the US mostly because the media is more willing to capitalise on them, the police is organised enough to detect they are serial killers (whereas in other places these cases are often treated as isolated and they see no connection). The fact the media is more willing to give them attention is an extra-incentive to them. There's this odd connection between police/media that's starting to spread everywhere.
I can't say anything about serial killers, but it's a fact that the ratio of sociopaths is estimated to be pretty much the same per 100,000 people anywhere in the world. but yeah. yeah. you know. it's not like europe doesn't have weirdos, it's more like weirdos keep their weirdness private rather than using it as something that makes them so special? i don't know. REWARDING.

in the us they seem to say a serial killers full name rather than just the regular first and last.

a) food.
b) buying shit: records, books... more food. c) dinner out with whoever happens to be tolerating me at the time; a half-assed need to be vaguely celebratory. the only thing i enjoy 100% any more is food. food what tastes good. fuck everything else. it's a wonder i'm not just a blob. |

yes, but let's not forget that the British invented serial killers (Jack the Ripper) and also the world's most successfull serial killer was also British (Harold Shipman)

omg jerk haha I wasn't trying to say anything bad about your beloved country by my statement btw, rather saying you seem to have a better support system for ppl with issues. I've never had anyone really tell me smthing is "not proper" in the context symbol guy provided, so I don't believe his conclusions are true, although I can see where yr coming from. Anyway, what's conformity and social controls to someone who needs psychotherapy? Maybe I just need a better reward system. |

this is a good thread.
a) short-term rewards a glass of scotch, an evening on a couch watching Discovery Channel or ocassional PC gaming. A good dinner with girlfriend out in a restaurant is never a bad idea either. b) medium-term rewards a booze-soaked session with friends. i don't do that frequently, though sometimes my brain needs a restart. c) long-term rewards usually, a vacation somewhere far from Europe (mostly Asia). it's pricey, yet very rewarding. i now realize much of my reward system includes alcohol. I should do something about that.

yeah, my short-term system involves food, coffee and alcohol. Surely that can't be good, but what can I do?
in the middle i'll think of dinners out and buying shit. and long-term is always traveling, just like yours. it works.

I wanna do the whole thing at once. Tokyo first, Hong Kong, Seoul, EVERYTHING. Ok there's my motivation now.

I'll enjoy what I'm doing because I'll go to Tokyo.
I need a reward system, Pavlov. I am my own bitch trainer.

Tokyo itself is not that exciting, to be honest, at least if you have too high expectations (as I had). There are far more captivating places in Japan, like Kyoto or Miyajima. Still, Tokyo is a must see, that's a fact.

I normally picture Tokyo as the strangest place on Earth. I even dream about it sometimes.
I'm so like, vulnerable. I should have never watched Akira.

I really enjoyed my brief time spent in Tokyo. Hope to visit it again one day. Would much rather go back to Okinawa, though. Place was beautiful.
