i never really been on a first date. i would hang out with my soon to be girlfriend and then it just happened. dating around is just not my cup of tea. but there's this one girl i'm going to ask out soon. actually i'm going to tell my friend (who's good friends with her) that i have a crush on her and that she should tell her that since i'm too shy to.

I think just going out to dinner is a date. It doesn't have to be called a date, it's just a planning outing with or without people. I've been on a few "formal" dates, but most of those were an easy way of saying "I like you".

after you've been with the same person for a number of years is it still called a date?
we go to dinner all the time, although frequently accompanied by others. but none of this PDA shit goes down, none of this holding hands as we walk down the street. it's physically uncomfortable, it's like "Get off me!" |

Ha ha, very true. I was walking behind this emo couple today. they had their arms around each other. The problem was that he was a good foot taller than her. I couldn't help thinking how uncomfortable they looked. It was very cute though. I love emo couples. They're like living Alamos aren't they. |

I find public shows of affection quite cringeworthy in general. I also have a theory that they're a good indicator that things aren't all they should be in a relationship. There's an air of desperation about them I always think.

it's just like, why do people feel the need to shove their tongues down each other's throat while i'm eating or something? i had a bunch of people over in my empty apartment a couple months ago, like a party sort of, i just had rugs everywhere and like candles and guitars and shit, a hippie party sort of, and my one friend and her boyfriend were practically getting it on RIGHT THERE. come on! i don't need to see that shit! the most i will ever do around other people is sit on his lap or something, nothing gross.

Maybe they were just trying to take the party action up a notch. It's like being the first people on the dance floor. Somebody's gotta drive the bus.

It's like when people refer to someone constantly as their wife/husband/gf/bf rather than by their name. It's like they're desperate to prove to the world that they aren't single.

I like holding hands, making out. But then again I don't do it often.
