i worked with a woman who had been vegetarian for over 20 years and went travelling to a small village in far far eastern europe where the locals slaughtered a goat in her honor and all the towns folk came out to watch her eat some of it. she lost a lot of weight that trip.

Holy Christ she must have been freaked as to what to do! In my pre-vegetarian days I'd be offered fish and would try to down it. Sometimes at guests places. I would finish about half before giving in to vomiting. I'd usually just stop and be honest and say it wasn't my favorite. Now, many of my friends are veg and my girlfriend is too, so it's not often that I come across a steak. One time I went to my grandparent's house and they didn't understand what vegetarianism is. They understood that I chose not to eat meat, just didn't think it was a serious choice. So my grandma comes into the dining room saying "GUESS WHAT I COOKED YOU?" with a large grin on her face. I said "what?". "MEAT!" "uhh..I choose not to eat meat" "YEAH WELL YOU'LL HAVE TO NOW" "ummm..." It was pretty awkward. My brother said he would eat it. Then everyone was happy. |

I'll try any food item twice.
if it sucks I just tell em I don;t like it. indian food makes me wanna retch, but so many of my friends sin high school would invite me over for dinner aith their family, big indian families, and I could not handle it! Korean food is horrendous sometimes too.

I worked on a farm in New Zealand and unfortunately the farmer's wife was a vegan. As you can imagine the food tasted awful and I would've slowly wasted away to nothing if it wasn't for the fish and chip shop in the nearby town I clandestinely visited to gorge its offerings.

once someone made me a vegetarian dish that included everything i don't like: mushrooms, quorn and warm carrots. i just pretended not to be hungry and ate very little, mostly the rice that came with it. most of my friends know what i like and basically everyone knows i don't eat a lot, so i rarely offend someone by not finishing my plate. if i don't know them, i just say 'i'm sorry i can't finish this, i never eat a lot of food at once'

My friend gave me a 100 Calorie Bar as a gift (we have a thing about getting really stupid surprise gifts for each other), so I decided to freeze it so I can cherish its memory foreverz. It's been in my freezer for nearly two months now.
Closest I've ever came to throwing away food that was offered to me anyway... |

oh. i went to a korean wedding once. lovely day, lovely people but the food was horrific. one dish literally had some claw floating in a cloudy liquid. A claw, for fuck's sake!
