To be honest I like 3 minutes of this album, maybe 2:58 to be precise. its a the last 3 minutes of track 5 (Daily Routine).
The rest of it, well yeah, AC write pop songs and cash in on the ''club drums'' as I've come to call them. Its not bad for the indie-pop shelf, just not really my thing. I see where they're going, catchy melodies, catchy keyboards, drums and bass that Kanye West probably will sample...its expected for something for '09, it seems like music you would hear from 2009. But I am publicly admitting that I've developed an *unhealthy attachment to the last 3 minutes of Daily Routine, so lush, beautiful, chords that make me feel. *(Some would say an unhealthy attachment is anything enjoyed or listened to more than a handful of seconds from this album, well I would agree, except for the aformentioned 3 minutes I heart.) |

It really is. I can't stop listening. I've probably listened to it every day since it came out. |

Bahaha. "yeah, definitely the best album this year so far. by some margin!" A bold statement, 35 days into the year, and you probably haven't heard any other albums from 2009 yet have you? So I assume you're kidding.

impossible. the only other thing that could even hope to come close is What Happened by Emeralds. I like Tim Hecker's new one too, but its not amazing. Super Roots 10 doesn't even count as its only 10 minutes of new music and then remixed 4 times.

I wouldn't count "RTZ" since it's just reissued stuff from splits and ep's and shit from years ago.
Anyway, new Emeralds "What Happened" is great, it's my favorite of the year so far personally. But... again, we're only 35 days into the year! |

Well, then I'll count the 10 minutes of new material Boredoms released (since we're not counting the remixes), which I would take over anything Animal Collective has ever done.

I love Sung Tongs and a few things before it and they've had a few good songs since then. They're a decent band, not worthy of two threads equaling nearly 29 pages talking about this alright-but-ultimately-nothing-special-whatsoever album...

No one said you did. Though, now that you mention it, you constantly feel the need to insert yourself as the primary focus of any thread that even has a 1% connection to animal collective, though, so hey. We know you love Animal Collective, and that's fine and good, but well... it's kinda weeeeeeeeird.
As for the Fall, there aren't that many threads on them. Because there's not much to debate about, I guess. The Fall's shittiest song could destroy Animal Collective's most beautiful, breathtaking moment any day. Just sayin'. |
