A Conversation over 25 Years of Einstürzende Neubauten. Tells the true story of Einstürzende Neubauten. Blixa Bargeld, Andrew Unruh, Alexander Hacke, Mark Chung, FM Einheit, Rudolf Moser, Jochen Arbeit and numerous other key players speak on dignity, on self-determination and manipulation, on creative discipline and drug excess, on Kango hammers and architectural criticism. Max Dax and Robert Defcon recorded and compiled the book based on 43 authorized interviews. Much myth and media hype is revealed as such. At the same time, Einstürzende Neubauten allow deep insight into their working methods, sound research and the band's history, all in their own words. Including previously unreleased photos, notes and documents. Afterword by Arto Lindsay.

Available for 20 Euro + postage at Neubauten.org.

I bought it from the website. I just prefer Hor Mit Schmerzen, prolly cos I've had it longer - it's the original, unrevised version, starting to get a bit tatty now.

Wreckers of Civilisation is an excellent book, even if you don't get TG's music. Well worth a read.

The only redeeming feature of this overblown, misogynistic, philistine is that he's considerably older than me and is therefore, statistically, liklier to die before I do.
Either way suits me fine, just as long as I don't have to see his face ever again.

Just because one doesn't like his face or the tone of his voice doesn't make him any less of an excellent art critic.

All art critics are self opinionated shitbags. Sewell is without doubt the worst practioner of that despicable pastime.

What qualifies him, or any other self agrandising numpty, to say what is good art and what is not?

Yeah, it's good! It's got some autobiographical essays about growing up in maryland, the Great Great "Fish", a dreamlike story about,uh, fishing with Bukka White. I think it's from the Halana 'zine. Also a great story about punching Antonioni during the soundtrack recording for Zabriskie Point. It's definitly put together out of scrawls and scribbles, but if you're a fan of Fahey, I say dig it! Intro by Jim O'Rouke.
