I can think of countless albums that are just so solid the whole way through.
Here's a short list off the top of my head. A Silver Mt. Zion- Horses IN The Sky (and most everything else they've released) godspeed you! black emperor- everything (literally) Do Make Say Think- everything Neutral Milk Hotel- In The Aeroplane Over The Sea Pavement- Slanted & Enchanted Varge!- Must Lunge The Ladies- They Mean Us Against Me!- As the Eternal Cowboy ATDI- Relationship Of Command Arcade Fire- Funeral, the EP, Neon Bible... (everything...) The Blood Brothers- everything up to now Broken Social Scene- You Forgot It In People, self-titled Daughters- Hell Songs Cursive- The Ugly Organ, Happy Hollow The Flying Luttenbachers- most everything My Bloody Valentine- both albums Joy Division- " " Nick Drake- Pink Moon Tom Waits- Swordfishtrombones annnnd Sonic Youth, of course- most everything [mind, I can think of a billion more, but I feel I've made my point] ..."short list".... HAH! I completely disagree with this post.

A great album is a mighty feat, therefore declaring an album "great" is perhaps more worthy when thinking of the difficulty of the task. What's an album with a great song here or there with the rest stinkers? Wouldn't it be better to have a whole album of solid songs rather than have an album with a few great songs among a bunch of rotten ones?
I don't know.

i can think of alot of albums that are great all the way thru.
i find it much more satisfying. it sadens me a bit sometimes when theres a great song and nothing else by the same artist even near as good. i end up playing the song to death and not liking it as much after the 53399340000th time, which can come around in a matter of days going by the way im getting hooked on individual songs these days. (see my threads begging for recommendations) |

I haven't heard a perfect album yet. I don't think I have. I'll let you know when I do.

A great album is like a great cheese. It should age well but become like stinky feet and you may have to take a knife to the mold.
