probably the least listened to album of theirs. thurston should of just added genetic in that album. it definitely would of saved it. and i dont understand why everyone likes 100% so much. its good but not great.
wish fulfillment is one of my favorite lee songs of all time |

My second SY album. I quite liked it when I got it, but not so much now. I prefer it to Goo, but Dirty doesn't seem to have any classic tracks (Tunic, Mote, Titanium Expose) like Goo does.

excellent LP with just a couple of downers (Cremebrulée, they should have put Generic instead, but that's history).
I think i can say it's my least favourite of all their regular LPs but it still rocks and the songwriting is top of the pops. pun intended. |

I'll admit it isn't quite as amazing as I thought it was the first time I heard it, but this is still very much an album I like to pull out once in a while and listen to.
Wish Fulfillment and Swimsuit Issue are still two of my favorites. |

i love this album. the production is alright.. i'm not gonna say it's great but i do think it fits the songs... guitars are paired in left and right speakers... it sounds easy and powerful... i dont know if a more messy or noisy production would serve these songs.
the structure in 'chapel hill' and 'sugar kane' is just genious... it starts, then goes into the verse, chorus, verse, chorus structure and then a middle part + solo that is just so fantastic and different from the rest of the song melodies that when the verse kicks in again you can't believe it's the same song... as for the other songs.. theyre all 10/10 im glad they made an album like this and im glad i can enjoy this as much as lets say nycg&f or any SYR

Oh yes! I love the lyrics on JC, definitely my favourite Kim has ever written. It's fantastic, although it is a terribly sad song, dedicated to Joe Cole. 100% was also dedicated to him. |

I don't know why, but I can't get into Youth Against Fascism. Every other song, I like. As for the album as a whole, I would have enjoyed it more if they left out:
Swimsuit Issue - The ending is cool. The music is cool. I just think the lyrics in the beginning are lacking. Youth Against Fascism - I just can't get into it. Nic Fit - It doesn't really add anything to the album. Purr - I love the breakdown in the middle, especially the harmonics, but I think it's a pretty boring song overall. Minus those four and add: Genetic & The Destroyed Room That would have made the album perfect for me. It's still really, really good though. |

yeah their worst album. there's something about it i don't like. maybe it's the sonic youth trying to play grunge sound of it. i really like "nicfit" (mostly because i love the original) and "jc"

what "grunge?" you've been brainwashed. there was no "grunge". all sonic youth was trying to do was make a very chunky sounding rock sonic record, hence the joke name of "dirty" to amke fun of the wyhole "grunge" crap. "grunge" was a fashion fad . of all the bands labeled "grunge" the only one that the connotations of that name fit is Mudhoney.
every other one was more stoner rock, heavy metal, classic rock, a combination of all the above. the mudhoney rules all and dirty rules all!!!!!!
