Don't you people have an Amway meeting or Tupperware party to get to soon?
Call me Holden Caufield, but I find phonies & their sentiments nauseating. First off, he never wrote they were poems for children until he got called out. Instead, he repeatedly asserted that he was a better poet than Jim Morrison. Then, he backtracked claiming "that it was all a joke." Secondly, a childrens' writer's skill level is usually analogous to the skill level of a country musician, i.e., they have little to no talent. |

The truth is a truly positive thing, but sometimes, because people live in denial as a general rule, it's not pretty & they often don't weant to hear it.
It's very true also that false compliments are a part of accepted courtesy rituals that are indeed necessary for good manners in a civilized society, but when this etiquette brushes up against the truth, I start to have problems with it because it usually serves to only reinforce the denials of the flatterer & the flattered. |

Nice (but predictable) use of logic to try to make me look foolish & expose my own pose.
You have my posts for empirical evidence that I, in fact, am not infallible by any means, but that I am, in actuality, in the words of Socrates, "a little less ignorant than everyone else." I stand by the assertion & it's not ego. I merely try to point out the silly inconsistencies & denial in the behavior that I observe in an attempt to instruct & edify. On a lighter note, some of what I write may also give people something to talk about at parties. On the old board, I was much more adamant about being serious & effecting real communication than I am at this one because iit often led to a mob mentality willing to try & torture me for kicks. Anyone & everyone has the capacity for wisdom, but it requires true Socratic knowledge of the self. What's asked of us is that we come to terms with our denials & fears to open up the wellspring of our unconscious knowledge, & most people simply refuse to do so due to their habituated denial of death & fear. A message board lends itself to a more direct & abrasive method (as you should be well aware since you are very obnoxious & overbearing yourself, porkmarras) than an actual one-on-one scenario. |

But a predictable comment attracts a predictable response(how predictable is this?).The best comments about ourselves are the ones that we pre-fabricate in our own minds.

Yeah, you're right, porkmarras, I'm a total fraud & I pull everything I write out my ass & have no knowledge whatsoever that is remarkable at all.
This shit I write day in & day out just comes to me out of thin air. Please, as you currently already are doing & has been done many times, do everyone a big service & quote me more in your signature since it makes you feel superior to mock someone like me. |

Some might say the same thing about you atari.I don't really think that (no matter how verbose your posts) you are a particularly intelligent person either.I know people who are 100 times more clever than you think you are and they don't behave in such an arrogant and annoying way.

That's nonsense. These are internet message board posts given in a immediate manner.
All you really are accomplishing is that you are making yourself look even more typical. And yet your true self is not typical. You're a real artist & yet you cow tow to rabble because you're insecure. |

If i was as insecure as you tell me that i am i would make comments on stuff that gets posted on here that i decide to simply ignore on the principle that it wouldn't take me or the other poster anywhere. Some of the political commentary that got posted on a few threads was so atrocious,i decided to ignore it alltogether because seriously boasting about your intellect on a messageboard equals to someone who really is insecure at the very core.I'm certainly not perfect and i never have said(unless i was kidding)that i'll ever be.Still.........

You've raised some curious points, porkmarras, so let's discuss pretension. Let's debate the merits of people that pretend to be more intelligent than they are for effect. Let's discuss the title of a thread called "Sonicl's sonnets VS Jim Morrison's poetry." Let us get down to the nitty-gritty & discuss a person that obviously deems themselves a literary critic to the degree that they start a topic called "The wrongness of Jim Morrison's 'poetry' Vol. 1."
sonnets? "poetry" in quotes? Vol. 1? Give me a fucking break. I, on the other hand, pull no punches & wrote only just yesterday that, "we are on an internet message board, so naturally, all of us are self-absorbed to some degree." I, on the other hand, was merely defending & explaining myself as a result of multiple attacks from you & your ilk. That's what you people do. That's your method. In rather "jailhouse mentality" fashion, you constantly needle someone until a button you can push is revealed. All of this should be rather obvious, but it isn't because you are in D-E-N-I-A-L. It should be clearly ridiclous to yourself for you to call out someone & label them pretentious when you yourself are over-the-top with your pretension. How many fucking topics do you start per day? How many of those are designed to make you the focal point of attention? And out of all those countless topics, how many have anything to say at all? How many of those topics & posts imply that you are king shit? I've got news for you, & that news is that lots of people undoubtably think you are extremely full of yourself & the fact that you seem oblivious to it only serves to prove the point that you are deep in denial. It cuts both ways, princess. |
