Tbh, I'm just more pissed off at the general public for falling for the Tories and medias lies. Forget the apocalypse theory of Corbyn. This is a conservative government that has strangled the poor and the working class. That the idea of the top 5% of the population paying more tax is such a horrendous idea. Even though the average person will never get to that stage.

And I'm sure you're rolling your eyes and thinking I'm an idealist but when did the Conversatives taking £200,000 in donation money from the wife of the former finance minister under Russian President Vladimir Putin become a-ok. All the while they suppress the report into Russian election interference.

Funnily enough a part of me is like, "fuck em, let em drown in debt and use the food banks. It's their fault for helping vote the bastards in". I'm lucky enough to be earning a decent wage and have a comfortable life. Why should I worry about them? Joys of empathy, ey?

A lot is gonna depend on how the Lib Dems and the Brexit Party impact on Labour and Tory votes. And we've not even seen the Tory's manifesto yet. So while the polls obviously put them way ahead, there's still plenty of time for Boris to throw it all away. Whatever happens though, I do think Corbyn's manifesto has made the chances of a Labour majority even more remote than they were already. But I expected Labour to be obliterated in the last election, and I was way off the mark. So who knows?

I'm actually not. I just think that if you want to defeat the Tories you may have to be prepared to lose the battle in order to win the war. Boris really doesn't do well against hostile questions. He's the opposite of Corbyn, who I always find a bit cringey when addressing his supporters but seems far more convincing when he's being attacked. Meanwhile am I the only one who finds Jo Swinson almost unwatchably irritating?

I don't think it's what happened to Swinson, so much as the more people are coming into contact with her the more dislikable she's becoming. She's cynically trying to position herself as the progressive candidate when any knowledge of her previous voting record tells you she's anything but. I'm even starting to wonder if she isn't just a little bit loopy.

So Boris finally launched his manifesto. Very little to say about it. Doesn't really offer anything. Doesn't really take anything away. Essentially cautious, which is clearly a decision made in light of May's disastrously cavalier manifesto in 2015.

Brexit aside, no floating voter's gonna be persuaded to vote Tory cos they find anything in this even remotely exciting, or inspiring. Boris is obviously just banking on enough of them simply being put off by Labour's more high-risk approach.

Was thinking about what you said the other day about some vocal Corbyn supporters would rather see Labour be ruined than actually aim for a labour win if it meant Corbyn stepping down. I'm trying to think of the last time that's happened with a party and I'm stumped. Is it something that's more likely with the use of twitter etc?

I don't know if I was saying that exactly but I do think the Corbynistas are putting principle over pragmatism. But in fairness, they'd point to 2015 as evidence that a Corbyn victory isn't entirely out of the question. But in terms of a party going that far down a quite extreme position, knowing it may well make them less viable in an election, I can't think of another occasion, either. Although I think the Dems in the US could well go down that route in a few years if the likes of AOC and Ilhan Omar are able to really define the direction that party goes.

Sounds about right. I'd say that, before recent changes in party identities, Obama could've fitted into a centre-right Tory party (Cameron/May), although I think he'd have been more comfortable in Blair's New Labour. I don't think he'd fit in either party now.
