I like up through HOTH, their fifth album.
I don't like the prancing that Robert Plant did in his feminine frilly laced blouses as he became the Golden God! Oh Brother!!! I kinda think he's embarrassed by that posture he projected now that he's in his golden years....He's much more humble and restrained now. Jimmy Page is basically retired and hasn't put any new music out in a decade, JPJ has joined with Dave Grohl and Josh Holmes and they have a new band, The Crooked Vultures. JPJ has had the most significant post-Zep music originality of the 3 surviving ex-Zepsters IMO. The "re-union" with John Bonham's son, Jason, actually has some great material on it. He did his father proud. Plant's voice was better than it's been for Zep material since 1972 !!!

How can you not like Led Zeppelin? I imagine there are some that think they're too cool for the Zep.

I just put on "I" right now. When "Your Time is Gonna Come" comes on, I'm going to turn it up to 11. Lennon started playing his toy piano along to "Good Times, Bad Times" and totally nailed it too.

Sure, and what's weird is I don't see Zep as a jam band/guitar masturbating band. Live they tried to jam more, but honestly weren't that good, mainly bc Jimmy was too wasted and/or improvising wasn't his forte. It was in the studio and arranging his parts that was brilliant to me...closer to the Gilmour/Floyd approach bc every note of his recorded parts were huge for the song.

they're very relevant to fashion. important to music as well, it's undeniable. but as far as nastiness goes they were certainly a manufactured nastiness at least to some extent.

this is true. people don't think about that for some reason.
the fashion part of it is great anyway. contrived or not. long live vivienne westwood. |

Lydon was a great writer who brought lyrics to rock 'n roll that weren't there before. Cool voice too. The band itself a bit overrated, but the impact can't be denied.
Today I'd rather listen to "Anarchy in the UK" than "Kashmir", but that's mostly due to personal circumstances (I was in a car that rolled over in high school while listening to "Kashmir" on my walkman). It doesn't surprise me that Page liked the Pistols as he could tell a good rock band when he saw one. |

Zep's cool. I fucking adore Your Time Is Gonna Come and Babe I'm Gonna Leave You. Probably one of the best band compositions we'll ever see. Every guy in that band pulls their weight.

Hahahaha..... Jesus Christ people, some of us don't like Zep, OK? If I ever hear Stairway again, "the greatest song ever", I'm going to throw up. I'd rather chew tinfoil than hear the first LP.....blues that go up to fucking 11. Subtlety was not a strong point here. And no, I don't think I'm "too cool".

Houses of the Holy hasn't left my stereo for a few weeks now. I can now play The Rain Song on guitar.

Sure, and, you cannot help what you don't like. I'm not sure where I'm going here, but folks, what lasting influence has Zep had on other musicians / music? I wish I could find what Pete Townshend said about Zep, hahaha....I found myself completely agreeing with him.
