I saw Wussy play the Forever Sounds in its entirety last month, then take a break and come back and play older material, for a total of one hour, 53 minutes of music--very generous amount of music for a club show. The album is indeed amazing. |

I cannot believe I've found a fellow Wussy fan in this place.

Thanks. I have to admit I resisted the band's appeal for a long time because the guy who owns their record label is a total fuckhead. But that's petty. The music is fine and that's what counts. Disclaimer: I live in Cincinnati, Wussy's town. But I'm not one of those people who are mindless cheerleaders for their local bands. I don't like The Afghan Whigs or, for that matter, Chuck "Wussy" Cleaver's former band, The Ass Ponys. |

I have just recently gotten into them, solely because of this album. It really is solid. |

Also, April 1 will see the release of John Congleton first "solo" album. I don't really know what to expect, but considering the guy produced St. Vincent, Wye Oak, Disappears, Spoon, Bill Callahan/Smog, Anna Calvi, Lightning Dust, Keren Ann, Swans...

Actually, I just listened through Attica! about 5 hours ago, after checking out their KEXP performance of material from it. I have to say, I almost even think I like it better than their newest release. I also found out they are playing here in June. Pretty stoked about that. But in watching their latest KEXP, I saw them playing as a trio with no drums and bass. Is this common for them? I assume they will have a full touring band when they come around. Even though it was still enjoyable, it did not hold a candle to the previous performance of Attica! stuff (in my opinion). Either way, I have grown quite fond of them in just the past week. Thanks for the recommendations. |

You're welcome. Yes, the full band is a quintet and they fuckin' rock. Sometimes Cleaver and Lisa Walker perform as Wussy (Duo), though. That Chuck is one lucky sumbitch! Robert Christgau's A+ review of Attica! includes a Sonic Youth mention: Quote:

On April 1, producer and Kendrick Lamar collaborator Terrace Martin will release his album Velvet Portraits.
Velvet Portraits features appearances from Thundercat, Robert Glasper, and more. It includes "Think of You" with Kamasi Washington and Rose Gold.

Oh, holy shit! New Bob Mould! I really loved his last album, Beauty & Rain. This one's good so far, and heavy as hell at times. Ah, nostalgia.

Hey, anyone heard Epic Jammers and Fortunate Little Ditties by Bonnie "Prince" Billy and Bitchin Bajas yet?
I love it! It's droney as hell, but it's expansive and really quite stunning. I'm not sure Will Oldham is capable of making a bad record, but this may be one of my favorites of the last few years. |

NO! What the hell's the matter with you people, always invoking nostalgia to explain why you're enjoying something. Nostalgia is the DEATH OF ART. This is a NEW Bob album, and even though I have most of his back catalogue I don't care how indebted to it the record is; it fucking rocks.

Ok ok, fine. Dude.. Jesus. Do you need some klonipin, bro? It helps with temper tantrums. I didnt even mean that shit about nostalgia. The new album is really fucking good, and sounds new and fresh to me. But I can't help the fact that I've loved Sugar and Hόsker Dό for as long as I can remember. |
