Loop
Spacemen 3 The Jesus and Mary Chain(since the thread is about british bands) Felt Tricky Portishead The Smiths Mogwai(for a certain period of time) Blur The Cure Aphex Twin Broadcast Stereolab(for a certain period of time) MIA The entire genres of: 1)Jungle 2)Drum n Bass 3)Trip Hop 4)Grime 5)Uk Garage The endorsement of the following(this applies to England more than the British soil as such): 1)Exotica 2)French House/disco 3)Italian film music,Ennio Morricone etc 4)Whatever is interesting and comes out of Germany 5)Basically,any good band or musical activity worth a mention that happens/operates in Europe/America/The World as a whole. As i said i could go on for a bit because the '10 only' restriction wont do any justice to the colourful musical tales that unfold on this relatively small island. There's more, there's a lot more. The pop section alone requires another post for itself. |

my list would be a patchwork of names already mentioned,so i'll go with a "contemporary" band that i think could become a quite strong "music entity" 65daysofstatic (young but great,in my humble opinion)

Not strictly similar(in fact both musically and thematically they differ quite a bit) but check out Lady Sovereign and one of my favourite albums of all time, wich is:
Eve-The Scorpion. |

Funny that you mention that beautiful digital machine they call a jukebox in there.I've once searched for merzbow and put it on.The looks of despair in the eyes of all those hoxtonites,i'll remember for years to come.

there's a pub in whitechapel (the castle) that has one of those, it's great (the pub and the machine).

Yeah they are great machines because you can declare war on people who play the same thing over and over again just like that!

The thing with them is that they are directly linked to the internet(a kind of instant itunes jukebox in a way) wich means that you can get a lot of more obscure stuff that wouldnt normally find its way into those pubs.It takes an evil mind like mine to use them to the best of their capabilities.
