Are the Gorillaz a super group? Damon Albarn and at one point at least Miho Hatori from Cibo Matto. I don't know about the others, though. Or how about that one group with Thom Yorke, that did that song about some rabbit or something? Unkle! (I just looked it up on another browser). They apparently had DJ Shadow, and Mike D from the Beastie Boys at some point, too. But I think I may be getting "super group" and "group with lots of famous guest appearances that sometimes turn into semi-extended stays" confused. And what if some of the members are from famous groups, but not others? Where do you draw the line?

Ooh! Dusty Trails! Josephine Wiggs (Breeders) and Vivian Trimble (Luscious Jackson). They most definitely did not suck (though their sophisticated blend of mellow, sound-track style instrumentals and French pop sensibilities may not be everyone's cup of tea here. But it's great for listening to while lounging by the pool).

from what i understood of the UNKLE project was that it was James Lavelle calling the shots and taking the credit & DJ Shadow putting in the work, everyone else involved were just guest vocalists.

And when we get sick of them and kick them out of the band because of their antics we can re-name ourselves Anal Cunt and and suggest they call themselves Selfish Cunt. |

"The 150 Murderous Passions", featuring the virtuoso skills of Messr William Bennett and Steve Stapleton.
And who could forget the immortal supergroup Flying Testicle, featuring the multifarious talents of Merzbow and Masonna?

What's the name of that super group that featured a group of japanese noise musicians - including Merzbow and Masonna - who all took their names from famous japanese doctors? I remember posting something on the rare records thread by them. |

i don't care what anyone says -- they all SUCK SHIT (for the most part).
rob is right about all the members having to have been very famous and successful of their own accord before banding together to make atrocious ear-bleeding racket. the ones who didn't blow: cream CSNY plastic ono band and there you have it. |
