With all the love I have for Steve drums, this time I have to say it's good that we have everything in other way and other production guy named Beck. Quote:
It looks like he liked Record's Club artworks.

Not the best typography around, though it looks better in demolished thoughts than on Thurston Moore, I thought they will make something better too. Looks like Thurston is not going to convince undeclared listeners by the cute cover.

better than the last cover!
"On Tuesday May 24*, Matador will be releasing ‘Demolished Thoughts’, the 4th solo album from Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore (5th if you count 1998′s ‘Root’)" er... first off, why the hell would you count 'Root', and then: 1. Psychic Hearts 2. Trees Outside the Academy 3... ? What are they considering the 3rd solo album? I realize he's released about six thousand solo albums of varying degrees of improvisation, but as for song-based 'solo albums' I'm at a loss to name a third... i always enjoyed joey waronker's drumming, and he seems better suited to play with thurston than when he spent a few years w/ R.E.M.

Why not count Root, Chris? Always liked this one's idea and few tracks on it, also it's cover.

it's the exact opposite of a solo album though, it's thurston making a racket and a bunch of other people doing all the work to process his sounds into different ideas (that sounds slightly dismissive, but my point is that it doesn't qualify as a 'singer songwriter' style solo album anymore than the dozens of other noise records he's released).
as for root itself, it was never my favorite but some of the tracks work, and the acoustic schizophrenia is certainly neat...

this album is going to rock so much. already trying to play "You lost your lover" (or whatever it's called). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rqo1DdksbPM
You Lost Yr Lover: DDAF#AD There was a time when you could find him Just by staring at the sky A perfect stranger, out of nowhere Nothing to do, nowhere to hide And he disappears today Where he goes he cannot say The silver rain is all you see You lost your lover I seem to recall sometime last fall Brown leaves crowned around your head Now i'm back in town, and i'm looking around Will i ever see your eyes again? Where did you disappear today? I turn the corner () Silver rain with the paper key You lost your lover ------------------------------------------------------ ---0---9-- --0--6 ---0---9-- --0--6 --10--0-- --8--0 --10--0-- --8--0 --10--0-- --8--0 --10--0-- --8--0 |

Where can I see the original artwork?
I so was just researching Thurston's solo material and came across this.. Kevin Shields & Thurston Moore Split 7" http://www.discogs.com/Kevin-Shields...elease/1703951 I was initially overwhelmed with joy that two of my favourite guitarists did a split together... apparently its A WOMEN NAMED KEVIN SHIELDS from some band called Gang Wizard that had some albums on Ecstatic Peace! A real head scratcher. I really wanna hear the Blindfold cassette! |
