I recently taped the Melvins' first ever show in Mexico City, and the Sony actually did a decent job, even though i'm not very familiar with the settings and i would bet there were possibilities of better results with more knowledge. Sadly, though, there was a girl at my right side whose excitement about the show resulted in her yelling and howling for the whole duration of the show, and her obnoxious noise is very present in the recording, to the point that i can't, for the life of me, consider it worthy of even a casual listen. Michael Nyman will be in Mexico City next month, i'll probably attend. I'm not sure, though.

Okay, I apologise for this in advance. I recorded the Earth show on 2011/07/23 at the Echoplex, Los Angeles, CA. However, I am having computer problems. So far, the only way I have been able to transfer my recordings to my computer is in 8 minute chunks. I made it so that there was a few seconds of overlap between tracks so no music is lost. The last track has a significantly more overlap. The recording quality is not the best, but not the worst ever either. I will attempt to resolve the editing issues soon. The performance was, in my humble opinion, extraordinary. So, as a preliminary teaser, here are the files as they stand now. There are some instances where the repetitive nature of the music masks the overlap, and other instances where it does not. I hope to post a better version of this soon.
Earth, 2011/07/23 Echoplex, Los Angeles, CA Blackwaterside Old Black The Bees Made Honey in the Lion's Skull (for Jerry) Coda Maestoso in F Flat Minor Descent to the Zenith Father Midnight (for Fred) Ouroboros is Broken (for Greg) Angels Of Darkness, Demons of Light (version, for Amy & Kim) final song features a lot of improvisation, detuning, tremelo, and is extremely awesome!!! http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MWW8SKNQ posted in both Earth and Bootleg threads |

hirsute biped, thank you so much for recording Earth. I'm still hoping they officially announce a date in Mexico City. I enjoy the "Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light" material immensely.

another interview, some gear talk. Angels of darkness part 2 supposed to come this fall?
http://consequenceofsound.net/2011/0...lson-of-earth/ when i saw them in July he was playing a Squier (!) telecaster w/ greatful dead and pinup girl stickers through a new-looking fender deluxe reverb. cello through a deluxe reverb too, I thought it could have benefitted from a bassier amp. I tried to look at his pedals, could only clearly see an aquapuss delay. |

I saw Earth last night in Mexico City, great show but very poor attendance. I don't think they will come back again and that kind of pisses me off but I'm thankful I had the chance to see them. Scored a copy of the "Earth Radio Live" LP at the merch table and got it signed by all current members of the band even though Lori Goldston and Angelina Baldoz didn't participate on that one. I recorded the show, and it sounds decent. I'll share my recording and some pictures I took just as soon as i'm able to.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that Dylan said that "Angels Of Darkness, Demons Of Light II" will be out by the end of February of next year. |
