Don't Look Now is good. But I watched it around the same time as Alice Sweet Alice. And they end up kind of similar. And now I can't remember which one I liked and which one I got bored with. Hmm.

yes. there is only one good scene: these 2 seconds when the ship jumps over the dark clouds...
I love the colors and everything. but the whole rest of it just sucks. I enjoyed rewatching the first matrix. its a pretty cool cyberpunk movie with a lot things which which completely rebuild the expectations of action cinema. but the wachoskwi brothers just killed it slowly with reloaded and completely with revolutions.

^^I dig parts of dark city, too.
but what annoys me is the ending which relied to much on cgi visual effects, and they arent that nice to look at anymore. the same goes with some things in matrix. the cgi that looked stunning when they came out just looks too plastic nowadays I think. the opposite of that is a movie like blade runner (yes, mentioned too often, but not often enough for me). no cgi involved, still looks classy. and I dont like the alien-creatures in dark city, they are erm...ugly or something? the story is interesting and even the city changing cgi is great. its a mixed bag for me

man I am in full agreement of how the second and third matrix movies were just ridiculous crap.
They should have condensed them into one movie. It may have worked better. I got sick of how fucking heavy reverential they all got in the second and third movie. heavy handed symbolism!!!

as far as jarmusch, no director is perfect, but he does make some neat flicks. dead man and ghost dog are great. "You know, like the rappers."
the coffee and cigarrettes movie sucked ass, but it was a throwaway bullshit anyway. a concept with no point.

1. pauly shore is dead 2. coffee and cigarettes 3. the first pirates of the caribean (I'm sure the other two are equally bad) 4. matrix revolutions 5. ankle biters 6. requiem for a dream 7. eternal gaze 8. death proof 9. devil's rejects 10. halloween remake |

it's awesome that I agree with you until #8. I love DP, as you know. Then Devil's Rejects I LIKE. Don't love. But I love the Hallowe'en REIMAGINING. The 2nd one was pretty f'ing bad though. It's just funny to me how our tastes can overlap so much but then differ so much. It's interesting.

I agree with most but not the Pirates of The Caribbean
That was the best children's movie of the last ten years. It was near perfect. very funny stuff.

Dark City I find is absolutely amazing until you work out what's actually happening. Then it's a big disappointment. Like the whole set up (sci-fi noir, man wakes up with no memories, is being hunted, and the city/people change at night) is amazing. Like there are so many little cool ideas there, and the tone is glorious. But then it turns out it's like "they're aliens in outer space or some shit and ooh look big plastic CGI fight"? That really let me down.

Requiem for a Dream is a boring extended music video about drugs. Awful acting, pathetic and boring characters, and headache-inducing editing. The "dramatic" scenes were laughable. Jared Leto, ugh, and a WAYANS BROTHER, UGH... Only saving grace is the music. The similiar Spun is pretty good, though, but a really good recent drug movie that blows them both away is MOST HIGH. Death Proof was just boring and annoying. Girls talking about hot guys and smoking weed. Girl dies. More girls talking about hot guys and pot. Girl rides on car for 30 minutes. Girls punch a guy. End. 2 hours of bullshit. Not a single interesting thing happens. Coffee and Cigarettes was the ultimate in... let's take a bunch of cool, interesting people and somehow turn it into the most uninteresting thing ever.
