He's too weird and crazy for G-Unit, or for 50... For most rap fans even. Don't get me wrong, I think he works well in a group (1train) and some groups would be more up his alley than G-Unit (like, uhh, Three Six Mafia maybe? Or Underachievers? But G-unit is straight forward thug rap. Danny is a wildcard, and 50 probably just didn't want to be upstaged. Though I have no love for skinny jeans. It's impossible to look even semi-professional in skinny pants of any kind. Loafers look awkward, and testicles tend to suffer. They are the enemy of tasteful attire. |

In fairness I think 50 is a pretty weird funny dude. Look at "how to rob" or his rick ross diss videos. Problem is, as a buz man he realized where he fits in, and just plays to his niche.

Yeah, I actually think he's pretty hilarious when he wants to be. I also think he is, or was, an exceptional rapper. But ... I think Danny Brown's more exceptional, and also more funny. But they're apples and oranges, which is probably why they'd end up killing one another if they were Batman villains. |

I watch Street Flava which comes on in Houston late Saturday nights.
D Solo has had this video show for over 20 years, first on Houston PBS, then he went to a regular syndication because too many old ladies complained about the Bootie Poppin video being aired on PBS. HA! Either way. They focus mainly on Southern rap acts, for Street Flava is the "soul of the South." Do you guys listen to these tracks? Kevin Gates - I Don't Get Tired https://youtu.be/_gB2iWln0ls Kevin Gates - Out Da Mud https://youtu.be/b-QZzVytupY WALE - Girls On Drugs https://youtu.be/MhHoJX8oIDA and this lunatic, Chedda Da Connect, who seems like a pimp who woke up feelin like he was on the Moon... Its insane to me that 36 Mafia actually put out more than one record... when their first one came out it was so ludicrously bad, they were so bad, it all screamed one hit wonder..
The wonder was how did they even have one hit to begin with? Its not like the mainstream radio crowd is fraught with smokers, snorters, and sippers who drop pills yo

their first album was Mystic Stylez in 1995. There was a "hit" on there? What? Anyway, their early albums are incredibly good. So yeah. I disagree with your post.

@Rob: i've heard the Chedda song before. catchy but not something i'd bump on the regular.
Mystic Stylez is a classic. but it's a Digable Planets kind of day. |

your opinion is yours to have. There's lots of Three 6 stuff I love. I do some times get the feeling that you hate on stuff that you've spent little time listening to. I don't know if I'm right on this one. But you give the impression of snap judgments sometimes.

it's not great by any means, but I dig how rappers are now proudly flying their psychedelic, drugs-other-than-coke-and-weed, freak flags. I cannot WAIT for the Butthole Surfers of rap!!! (and please, PLEASE do not respond that MFDOOM is that)

I agree it's personal taste. I'm just saying I feel like your pickiness is more stubborness at times. Like, you might hear one song out of a group that has a dozen albums, but decide that they're terrible. Even though you haven't heard but the tip of the iceberg of their discography. I'm not saying that you have to be a fan. But I feel like you write off something pretty quickly - and even here admit that you didn't pursue very far - yet, then call it "clown rap" or whatever dismissive comments you might make, which seems unfair if you really haven't taken the time to check it out and see if you're opinions actually match your assumptions.
